BMS Disciple Plan (effective 1/7/2014) Student Expectations 1. Be on time and be prepared (bring all materials, including assignments.) 2. Respect the educational rights of others and yourself. 3. Show proper respect to teachers and follow all classroom procedures. 4. No Excuses, as Wray Eagles we make choices and choose to succeed. Staff Expectations 1. Provide a respectful, safe, and conducive learning environment for all students. 2. Collaborate with parents to ensure an effective learning experience for all students. Parent Expectations 1. Support your students education and development 2. Partner with BMS staff to ensure a positive learning experience Administration Expectations 1. Communicate expectations to students, staff, and parents according to the discipline plan. 2. Ensure all parties follow the proper chain of command. 3. Follow through with steps of discipline and oversee documentation. Discipline Process Level 1: Student identification of their behavior that impacted their own learning or learning of others, with student signature Level 2: OTI “Opportunity To Improve” (mandatory after school), and completion of student improvement form (see referral form) Level 3: OTI “Opportunity To Improve”, with parent phone call (goal to collaborate with parent/students to develop strategies to improve behavior) Level 4: Office Referral-‐ consequence (In school suspension) * Referral Forms need to be used with every discipline issue Repeated or severe behaviors will be a Level 4 Office Referral (see referral form, and BMS Student Handbook) Tardy Policy Tardy: Consists of the following, any student who is not in class with the necessary materials by the second bell is considered tardy. Procedure: Any student deemed tardy will receive a tardy slip, once students receive a tardy slip they will report the following recess period to a Time on Task Meeting. Failure to appear to a Time on Task Meeting, is an automatic Level 2 (OTI)
iPad Misuse Policy (effective 1/22/14) To help students manage their iPads for educational purposes, students who are ineligible due to having (2)Ds or (1) or more Fs will have all non educational apps removed from their device for the ineligibility period (Wed - Tuesday).
1st Violation: Students who are not using their iPads per classroom rules will have their iPads turned into the office for the remainder of the day. If the iPad is needed for another class, the teacher can request it be picked up and returned to the office. nd st 2 Violation: Same as 1 Violation, except that parents will be notified. 3rd Violation: App Jail. The second offense will result in the student's iPad being turned into the technology department and all apps except school related apps will be removed, along with access to the App Store. iPad will stay in App Jail for 2 weeks. 4th Violation: App Jail for the remainder of the semester. 5th Violation: App Jail for the remainder of the year.
