Kappa League Updates Guide Right/Kappa League Conference Call Meeting Notes The Guide Right /Kappa League Committee meeting was held via a Conference call on January 18, 2017 at 8:00 PM. The participants on the call were Brothers Leroy Jenkins (chairman), Hugene Fields, Marcellus Majors, Justin Cobb, and Allen Jackson. Brother Jenkins sent out the Agenda shortly before the meeting which covered the following sub points: •

Chairman needed for End of the Year Kappa League Brunch/Luncheon. Looking for a chapter meeting with the Kappa Leaguers and Parents: Chapter gives program; determining the menu; and presenting the cost. Request would be submitted to Board for approval. (Pending) New Business: There was discussion about partnering with a local high school in the area to recruit new members. (Bowie High School). There has to be a relationship with the Principal and chapter brothers in order to get that relationship started. Recommendation that chairman react out to the schools, community centers, and churches prior to June in preparation for the new fraternal year. Membership Training Academy

Brothers, We just finished a successful MTA class for the Fall 2016. As the new brothers continue their growth in the Bond, please keep them encouraged. Fraternity Experience Updates

Greetings Brothers, the Fraternal Experience event for the month of January was BMAC Chapter Celebrating our 13th Chapter Anniversary  and acknowledging " Black Men Achieving Constantly". The Brothers met at the Smokey Bones Bar and Grill in Bowie. Maryland and had a dam good time in KAPPA and fellowship with one another. There was a nice turn out of the Brothers from BMAC and we had some visiting Brothers come out to join in the Good Old KAPPA SPIRIT. There was a  KAPPA Good Time to be had and if you missed it you missed a great time to just be a KAPPA and hang with the Brothers. Plenty of food and drinks in a good atmosphere, This event also, turned out to be a good reclamation event as we had some Brother wish to join our chapter. The next event will be KAPPA March Madness, Old School Sharp Shooters Contest ( spot shooting), Brothers 3on3 games and BMAC and Epsilon Sigma and KAPPA League Basketball Fun. Senior Kappa Updates

Our Senior Kappa Committee Chairman Brother Reginald Taylor will be having some medical procedures over the upcoming weeks. Brother Taylor is ver optimistic about a full recovery. Please give Brother Taylor and his family and encouraging word and prayer for a speedy recovery. Brother Taylor will keep us informed of any support the Brothers can provide to our Senior Brothers. Brother Sony McQueen continues to work through some medical challenges. Brothers are asked to reach out to Brother McQueen with encouraging words. It was enlightening to get some inspiring words from Brother Hinkle at our last chapter meeting. Brother Hinkle has not been able to attend a meeting for several months. His insight and wisdom at the January meeting was very beneficial and always welcome.

Reclamation Updates

The BMAC reclamation effort has been very successful during the 2016-2017 fraternal year.  The concerted effort to reclaim Brothers initiated into the BMAC and Epsilon Sigma chapters was identified as a  focus at the end of the 2015-2016 fraternal year.  The combination of establishing a "Brotherly Experience" committee navigating through the MTA process in the Fall of 2016 served as a catalyst.  BMAC has reclaimed at least 5 Brothers thus far and on pace to increase that number to 10 - which is a 16% bump in chapter membership - by the end of the current  fraternal year. Epsilon Sigma Updates

Brothers All, The Brothers of the Epsilon Sigma chapter had the opportunity to serve the community at the Redskins vs Giants football game at FedEx Field. Brothers were able to assist with the concessions, condiments and greeting. Even though many members of the community were Skins fans and at the result of their lost was bitter, the brothers had a chance to participate in building up morale. The undergraduate brothers also hosted a fellowship to support our Grand Polemarch’s reclamation indicative. Brothers that aren’t active on the yard were invited to fellowship with the undergraduate brothers over food and drinks. National Founders Day - Atlanta Ga. BMAC Brothers Walter Swindell, James Janifer, and Stephen Allen made the trip to Atlanta to defend National Founders Day. Brother Stephen Allen played the keyboard as a member of the Kappa Chorus.

 

Metro Founders Day - Greenbelt Md. BMAC and Epsilon Sigma Brothers attended the Metro Founders Day at Martins Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland.
