Masters and Doctoral Graduate Research Positions – Biophysics and/or Biomedical/Biological Engineering The Bionanolab (http://bionanolab.ca/) of the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada is seeking applicants for Master’s or a Doctoral position with the start date in September 2015. We are seeking dynamic, top notch candidates to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment towards his/her Master’s or PhD thesis in the Biophysics program or in the Biological Engineering program. The candidate will demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in the biophysics, or bioengineering research field. The applicant will be encouraged to continuously broaden their research horizons and seek new challenges during the course of their graduate studies. The applications are sought towards prestigious scholarships aimed at attracting outstanding student researchers to continue with the scientific excellence while contributing to the goals of the BioNanolab of Guelph. Bachelor’s degree in Biophysics, or Biological Engineering or Chemical engineering or Biotechnology or other relevant field would be eligible for this position. Good publication records, strong academic record, and willing to work as a team is an asset. OGPA above 85% is preferred for the consideration of scholarships and fellowships. A number of projects are available towards thesis topics. a) Development of biosensors using nanomaterials and microfluidics for biomedical, clinical animal health diagnostics, and food safety applications, b) Investigation of pathogenic bacterial biofilms using microfluidic systems and nanoscale imaging techniques, c) Understanding the polymicrobial infections of wound and their interspecies interactions using nanoscale imaging tools, d) Development of microfluidic kits for biochemical and microbiological assays, and e) Other relevant topics towards the mandate of the BioNano Lab.
