District Profile The Belleville Henderson Central School District is a small rural district and part of the Jefferson-Lewis BOCES. It is located in southwestern Jefferson County on the shores of Lake Ontario. The District, primarily residential and agricultural, encompasses an area of approximately 105 square miles with an estimated population of 4500 year-round residents. During the summer tourist season the population increases significantly. Agriculture is the chief industry with a strong tourist season.

Higher education opportunities abound with Syracuse University, SUNY Oswego, and SUNY Potsdam offering extension courses locally, as well as, Jefferson Community College, SUNY College of Technology in Canton, NY, and Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY, all within commuting distance. District facilities include an interactive fiberoptic Distance Learning Program availing secondary students the opportunity to take community college courses without having to leave their district. Membership is available in various civic organizations which support the school community by providing: student video ID programming, reading program, eye wear for eligible children, and sponsorship of various safety and recreational courses including a fishing tournament for the youth. COMPENSATION
Under the leadership of the current Superintendent, the school and community experienced growth in quality programs and enhanced facilities. The Board seeks an exceptional candidate with successful building and district administrative experience to continue the process. The salary range has been established at a minimum of $115,000, commensurate with experience. A full selection of negotiated benefits will be offered to the successful candidate. Residency within the district is preferred. The successful candidate will understand the unique character of the school community and be willing to become an active visible member of the community, along with being personally involved in the total educational program.
