CLUB NEWS U21 FOOTBALLERS CONTINUE TO PLAY WAITING GAME
The U21 footballers were interested spectators at the weekend for the championship meeting of Kilmacud Crokes and Erin's Hope. 'Crokes came out tops with nine points to spare and now move forward to a quarter-final meeting with Lucan Sarsfields next weekend. The winners of that game face 'Towers in a last four date. 'Towers had a run out against Meath outfit Blackhall Gaels which they lost narrowly.

Towers started their league campaign with a well deserved victory over Davis’s in the community centre last Sunday morning. The game was played in good conditions but the heavy going mitigated against good open football. Davis’s started well and Towers defense were all at sea for the first fifteen minutes and were 4pts in arrears before some players had the sleep rubbed out of their eyes. Some positional switches tightened up the defense and Towers clawed the deficit back by half time to level the match at 4pts each. Davis’s went a point up after 5 mins of the second half, but then Towers upped their game and went in front with a great point from Liam Connolly. The game was finely balanced at this point
but Towers defense was well on top. Towers were guilty of some terrible shooting at this stage, but a sweeping move from midfield saw Eoin Moran’s hand pass fisted to the net bravely by Niall Corless. This should have settled the game but in a rare Davis’s attack a high dangerous ball was dropped by the Towers goalkeeper and the Davis forward was first to react to fist the ball to the net. This goal only inspired Towers to greater effort and immediately Ian ward scored a good point after a great run from midfield. Two further points from Liam Connolly and Peter Nyhan sealed victory for Towers. Best for Towers were Anthony Banks, Ciaran O’Dwyer, Daniel Martyn, Paul Maguire, Ian Ward, Liam Connolly and Philip Bowe. Team
A Banks, C O’Dwyer, D Martyn, D Finnerin, P Maguire, I Ward, C O’Sullivan, D Whelan, E Moran, A Brady, L Connolly, P Bowe. N Corless, P Nyhan, C O’Broin. Subs;

UNDER 11 DIV 2 7 / DEC / 02 ROUND TOWER (AWAY 0-02 GOOD COUNSEL (HOME) 5-01
The outcome of the league would be determined by the result of this game. If Good Counsel won, then the league was theirs, if Round Towers won, then we would have to play Templogue/SS in a decider sometime before Christmas. It was a game that need to be played on a day when we wanted it least. As with our last encounter with Good Counsel during the summer (a drawn match), a number of our starting 15 were unavailable for a variety of reasons. As then, forced positional changes were the order of the day. The real difference between the teams was probably down to match fitness, with perhaps only a handful playing up to their own standard. For the first quarter of the game there was literally nothing between the sides, since the game was 14 minutes old when Good Counsel opened the scoring. Towers never really came to life, and having created few scoring chances trailed at half time by 2-0 to a Dean O'Rourke point. The 7 week layoff since our last outing was beginning to tell, as was the unfamiliarity with the small portable goals used on the day. 'Counsel restarted well, and with our first choice 'keeper now unable to continue, we lost what shape we had. In spite of this and in the sometimes driving rain we battled on, with Eoghan Moore taking our only other score. Lady Luck was not wearing her green and white hoops today! Nonetheless, we will put this setback behind us and learn the lesson that the day has brought. We will be back! Training continues at 6:00pm indoors in Moyle Park sports hall on Thursday evenings.
