CLUB NEWS It was another good weekend for the club on the playing fields with the senior footballers and U16 hurlers both securing good wins. The senior footballers beat Ballinteer St John’s comfortably in their first outing of the season in AIB Cup action. In other games the Intermediate hurlers went down to three late points against Civil Service and the junior hurlers saw off St Brendan’s. The U16 hurlers made it two from two by beating St Brigid’s and the minor footballers drew with Kilmacud Crokes in league action. Arrangements for the Club’s Annual Awards and Dinner Dance have been finalized and the Social Committee are now taking bookings for the night. Once again the Moran’s Red Cow Hotel will host the evening on Friday May 10. Tickets are priced at €35 and music on the evening is by Peters and Joyce. Civil Service 2.5
The new management structure of Paul Curran, Ned Ryan and Noel McNamara took the intermediate hurlers to Island Bridge for the first league game of the year against Civil Service. Unfortunately they didn’t get a win. The condition of the pitch was far from satisfactory. Towers where also missing a few players due to injuries. Civil Service kept the lead throughout the game. Towers brought the score back to 2-2 each within the last ten minutes. Service then got to easy frees inside the 30 yard line and then scored the last point from play to win by 3 points. tre forward position. The lull in the game was interrupted when Niamh Kearney passed a sweet ball to the oncoming Anne Darbey who pulled and sent the ball into the goal. The half time score was Round Tower 1-3 to Erins isle’s 0-1. After a spirited half time talk from the Tipperary man, a very determined Towers team took to the field achieving a wonderful point from Valerie Kelly....... A goal from Alicia Browne and two goals from full forward Lorraine Walsh. A great team performance with superb defending from Patricia Egan, Suzanne Beahan and "the rock" Joanne Shields. Congrats to each and every player as all did their job. The team sponsors CLONDALKIN PROVIDERS+HOMEVALUE HARDWARE, should look forward to a good year of Camogie from this up and coming team.............

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE JUNIOR B FOOTBALL O’Broin Cup 24/3/2002 Round Tower 7-9 St James Gael/Robert Emmets 1-2 A spirited display from an improving Tower’s Team saw them pull away in the second half. A young opposition didn’t have an answer to our very strong Full Forward line, on a day when all the forwards put scores on the board. Mark Bassett proved to be a large thrown in the oppositions side scoring 1-2 and laying on 3 goals. Very GOOD RESULT WITH 2 WINS FROM 2 GAMES, League starts Sunday Week at home against Inis Fails, lets hope we can 4

St Brendans 1-6
The Juniors started their campaign with a very impressive start defeating St Brendans. The game was played in Grangegorman on Sunday afternoon. The junior team was a complete restructure with a lot of new young players. David Finneran, Derek McNamee, Peter Nynan, Eoin Ryan all played there first adult hurling game today and by each of there performances they proved that they are all capable to play such standards. Top performances from Andrew MacLaughin scoring 7 points from play and Eoin Ryan senior scoring 1-2. Young Peter Nynan scored 2 points from play and Donal Kerins scored 1-1. The defenders where also great with two new signings Gearoid Byrne
and Des Linane showing there worth in the corner back positions. Liam Connelly and Dave Finneran playing on the half back line where also outstanding with Dave Finneran being the man of the match in my book. Derek McNamee played in the goal for the first time and stopped three point blank shots and has made his mark in the goal. All in all it was a very impressive performance by the juniors. Team: D McNamee, G Byrne, P
Lawless, D Lenane, D Finneran, M Doyle, L Connelly, Declan Rafferty, Donnacha Rafferty, E Ryan(11), D O Hogain, A McLoughlin(0-7) D Kerins(1-1), P Nynan(0-2), B Conheady(0-2) Subs: S Rooney for L Connelly. Report By.

Towers captured a valuable point in Pairc De Burca last Sunday, in their second league match. After a poor start, which saw them losing 5pts to 1pts after 20mins. Towers recovered well and could have stolen the points in a close finish. This rate of improvement will serve them well for the Championship opener against Craobh Chiarian. St Brigids 0-2
Round Towers U16 hurlers recorded their 2nd win in the Division 2 league on Saturday in Russell Park against St Brigid’s. This was an unusual game in so far as both teams failed to register a score in the first half. The second half fared a little better with some wonderful hurling from Niall Corless, Ciaran Cross, Eoin Walsh. Douglas Faughnan and Eoin Moran hurled well at midfield with Brian MacLaughlin and Eoin Ryan looking dangerous in the forward line. Eoin Moran scored a 65 to get us going, followed by a point by Douglas Faughnan. St Brigid’s responded with 2 points. Eoin Ryan scored a wonderful goal after great work from Eoin Walsh which he followed with a point from play leaving the score 1-3 to 0-2. Team: A. Kerin, M. Skerries Harps 1-8
On Sunday last in Moyle Park, Round Towers Under 16 Ladies got their league off to a great start with a well earned Victory over Skerries Harps. Our keeper Karena Connolly conceeded only one goal in the entire game, Making some great saves under pressure. Elsewhere Sinead Tucker, Andrea Bowe and Lorna Daly got their names on the score sheet. Tucker opened the score with a total of 4 goals in the first half and continued to lay on scores for Bowie and Daly. The second half was a bit stiffer as Skerries got more into the game with their no10 covering all positions in the forward lines scoring 3 points with no reply. Again Towers knuckled down with Natasha Daly and Dannille Campbell sending in good balls which were converted by Tucker, Lorna and Bowie. Scorers: Lorna Daly 0-3, Sinead Tucker 5-1, Andrea Bowe 1-2, Natasha Daly 1-1. Report By.
