ANNUAL INDOOR HURLING TOURNAMENT
Round Tower's Clubhouse is available for hire. To book please call to the club any Monday or Friday night and ask for Jimmy
The annual indoor Hurling Tournament has been underway for the last 3 weeks in Gormanstown College. Our Under 8s, Under 9s and Under 10s are competing. Match reports for the Under 8s and Under 9s follows. The Under 8s have played 3 matches drawing their first match against St Maurs 3-3. For their second match they were well prepared and beat St Perrigrines 5-3. This week they saw off the challenge of Skerries Harps with a very strong performance and a deserved 5-3 winning score. Strong performances from the full squad have resulted in these positive results for the team in their first competitive outing since progressing from the Hurling Academy. Our Under 9s started their campaign with a 3-3 draw against Round Towers Lusk. A very good result as Lusk was one of only two teams to beat these guys last year at Under 8. Week two of the tournament saw a very solid performance from all players to ensure a 5-3 win against Erin go Brach. This week threw up a mouthwatering tie against Lucan Sarsfields. Tensions were high as the match started and we got the perfect start with a quick goal. Lucan got back into the game and went 2-1 up. Back came Towers and opened up a 3 goal lead.
CLUB NOTES Items from members including match details, results and fundraising initiatives should be forwarded to me by email before 10am on a Monday morning for inclusion in our club notes. Our notes are posted in the Evening Herald, The Echo, The Gazette, on the Hill 16 website and on our own website. They are also sent to members who provided email addresses at the time of membership renewal.

Lucan came back again and went into a 6-5 lead. With only 5 minutes left Towers struck and scored two goals in quick succession. This seemed to break the Lucan spirits and we were eventual winners 9-7. With 3 games played by the under 8s and under 9s and three to be played we are in a good position in both groups. The effort put in by all players has been rewarded with good results and both teams are currently unbeaten. If the same effort is displayed for the next 3 games we should see ourselves in the reckoning come the final match and medal positions.
REPORT BY:
Brian Douglas The hurling tradition is still alive and well in Moyle Park College. We have had teams participating in competitions consistently for the last five years. Traditionally, we have had players from Round Towers taking part on the school teams as well. In a few weeks time we are taking part in the Under 14 hurling school league. I am hoping that all eligible players who are involved in the club will also be part of the school panel. Given the success of the Under 14 footballers winning the Dublin Schools title, it would be great if we could replicate that in the hurling.
