TUSLAW LOCAL SCHOOLS Board of Education Meeting May 11, 2015 The Tuslaw Local Board of Education met for their regular monthly meeting and conducted the following business: •
Discussed the IDEA Special Education Funding Plan (Title VI-B) during the public participation session at the meeting
•
Approved the financial report and the payment of bills which totaled $1,150,180 for the month of April
•
Accepted several donations for scholarships, and other donations for libraries and the soccer team
•
Approved the amended five-year forecast as presented by the treasurer
•
Approved hosting the summer FoNTs (opportunities for learning) program for students from Fairless, Norhtwest and Tuslaw
•
Accepted resignations from Barbara Blachly and Kelly Kochan, teachers, and from Julie Stanley, latch key aide
•
Approved several limited, continuing, administrative, substitute, and supplemental contracts as well as summer school teaching contracts and approved a contract for Adam McKenzie as Elementary Principal as recommended
• Approved the list of 2015 graduates pending completion of all local and state requirements •
Renewed membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association for the 2015-16 school year
•
Renewed a contract with the Stark County Health Department for school nurse services
•
Approved four additional courses (Algebra III, Theater, Financial Management, and Modern Technology) to be offered at Tuslaw High School
•
Approved an agreement with Simplified Online Communication System (SOCS) for assistance with website development
• Approved an agreement with the Stark County Educational Service Center for supervisory services, special education support and gifted education coordination • Non-renewed one personnel contract due to the reduction in the federal Title II-A grant which supported the position •
Listened to a nutrition standards report that ensures that the district complies with regulations of the federal and state school lunch programs and the district wellness policy

Listened to a Curriculum/Technology report from Ryan Rodocker, who reviewed the online testing program experience which was very successful for Tuslaw students
•
Adjourned until the next regular meeting which will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. in the district office conference room
