PowerSchool Parent Portal   Acceptable Use Guidelines   

Burke County Public Schools provides access to a web‐based portal that allows parents to view their student’s schedule,  classroom assignments, grades, attendance, demographic data, school bulletin, and more.  This product is available to you  in conjunction with the state’s Student Information System (SIS), PowerSchool.   

The Parent Portal houses valuable student data that can be negatively compromised if not used ethically.  Therefore,  parents must be aware that the privilege to access this data can be suspended or cancelled for those who do not follow  acceptable use guidelines or any rules, regulations, and/or policies established by Burke County Public Schools.   Goals:   Increase Home‐to‐School Communication   Promote Real‐time Student Progress and Attendance Reporting    Improve Accuracy of Student Demographic and Emergency Contact Information 



Enhance Parent Involvement 

 

Acceptable Use Rules:   The Parent Portal will be used in a responsible, efficient, ethical, and legal manner.   Appropriate language (no profanity, non‐threatening) will be used in communications.   Access must be in support of student’s educational objectives only.   Assume that all information is private property of the student and parent(s).   Attempts to log in or gain access as any other user or to share a password could result in cancellation of user  privileges.  Also, login information (Username and Password) should not be shared with students.
