Nepal Earthquake On April 25, 2015, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, 81km northwest of the capital Kathmandu. Another quake, measuring 7.3, struck on May 12, this time 83km east of the capital. The earthquakes killed more than 8,000 people, injured at least 19,000, and displaced hundreds of thousands in cities and villages near the Himalayas. The Tri-State Cultural Society of India, a tri-state community, which represents more than 300 Indian origin families in Owensboro, Evansville and the surrounding area, is conducting a fundraising dinner with 100% of proceeds going to America Nepal Medical Foundation (http://americanepalmedicalfoundation.com/) to provide direct aid to the people of Nepal. The event will be held on July 12 at the Owensboro Convention Center. The event will offer a Indian dinner catered from the restaurant of celebrity chef Maneet Chauhan of “Chopped” and musical entertainment from Sangeeta Katti (www.sangeetakatti.com) along with silent and live auctions. The goal is to raise $50,000 to provide the victims with medical care, food, and other life essentials. Entrance for the event will be $100 per person, or $1000 per table of 10 guests. Your support of this event will help thousands of people who have been devastated by these earthquakes.
CSI Tri-State Cultural Society of India is a non-profit organization, established in 1984. TriState CSI's mission is "to integrate the Tri-State Indian community and to participate within the local community while preserving and advancing our culture and heritage". To serve this purpose, Tri-State CSI organizes events to promote the Indian culture and to forge strong ties among the people of the Indian community in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky area.
Why ANMF? 100% of the donations received by America Nepal Medical Foundation go to the intended hospitals and victims. All members are volunteers, with zero pay and no overhead cost to ANMF. ANMF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, working in Nepal since 1997. ANMF members are on the front line, with accurate knowledge of culture and geopolitics. ANMF has extensive local connections to hospitals, clinics, and medical personnel in Nepal and is utilizing these channels to streamline their relief efforts. This allows ANMF to quickly identify needs that may be missed by more established international organizations if they do not have an intricate network within Nepal. Most ANMF members are originally from Nepal and are currently based in North America. Many went to medical school in Nepal and have worked in local Nepali hospitals and are familiar with the ground realities of medical care in the country. ANMF will do the utmost to ensure transparency and accountability of all relief generated through this effort.
