elcome to the 2016-2017 school year! The Oak Hill Staff is thrilled to have you join us for another wonderful year. Oak Hill Elementary School is a very special and exciting place...you can feel it when you walk through the door. We have three changes in our staff this year. I would like to welcome Miss. Helsel to Fourth Grade, Mrs. Deal to Kindergarten, and Mrs. Hedrick our new Librarian We are always looking for volunteers at Oak Hill. If you would like to volunteer in any capacity at OH, please complete a background check

form and give it to Mrs. Munjas in the office. Remember: anyone wanting to volunteer in any capacity, even chaperoning a field trip, needs to complete this form in order to participate. These forms must be completed on an annual basis. Please do not wait until the last minute to fill our your form. It can take up to two weeks to receive the information back. Wishing you a GREAT year! Mrs. Stacey Schwuchow Follow us on Facebook: Oak Hill Cardinals

Spell Bowl Try-outs

Just a reminder OHE Families- Our elementary school day has been adjusted by 15 minutes this year. Student Start: 8:00am (this is when the tardy bell will ring). Student drop-off in the back of the building (door 7) will begin at 7:30am. Student Dismissal: (2:30pm - no change here).

Oak H ill E l em e n t a r y S c h oo l Visitor Badges When you visit Oak Hill for any reason during school hours PLEASE stop at the front desk and fill out a red visitor badge with your name and the time you arrive. This is for the safety of your child and for the consideration of the new people on staff who may not know you, even though you may know who they are. Thanks for your cooperation.

Medication at School All prescription medications need to be brought to the school office by a parent/guardian and a permission form will need to be completed. We will not give any student medication without this signed form. All medications must be in the regular prescription bottle. If it is necessary to administer over the counter medication to students at school, the same requirements apply.

Absences & Tardies We believe that regular timely attendance is the most critical investment you can make in your student’s academic growth and achievement. Students should be in their classroom ready to learn at 7:45 a.m. Any student arriving after 8:00 a.m. is considered tardy.

Children who walk into class late are not only more self-conscious, but they are at a disadvantage because they have missed important instruction. If your child is tardy...it impacts the whole class. This is tough for all families, but we know that intentional planning and practiced routines can make getting out the door easier in the morning.

If your child has an appointment during the school day: • Send a note to your child’s teacher informing her of the departure time. • An Adult must come into the office to sign the child out and back in if he/she is returning to school. • Please allow for sufficient time for your student to come to the office when picking them up. If your child is in Art, Music, or PE it will take longer to gather his/her belongings. Thanks for your cooperation! •

Please take note of these VERY important Safety Procedures.

Drop Off Procedures

Student car drop off begins at 7:30 a.m. Students should stay in their cars until the adult on duty opens Door 7 at 7:30 a.m. Access to the driveway is located on Oakley Avenue. The gates will open at 7:15 a.m. All parents should remain in their cars while in this line. Please do not make double lines or cut into the line.

Pick-Up Procedures

All students are to be picked up in the back of the Oak Hill building (Door 7). Access to the driveway is located on Oakley Avenue. The gate will open at 2:20 p.m. Please follow the lane up to the building. All drivers are asked to stay in their cars. Students are loaded 3 cars at a time outside Door 7. DO NOT DRIVE AROUND OTHER CARS TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE. Many Oak Hill parents pick up their children every day. If everyone follows the procedure above, dismissal will go as quickly as possible. Parents who go around others to move to the front of the line initiate an unsafe situation. It also creates ill will among those parents who stay in line as requested! Please do not park in the north parking lot after 2:00 p.m. Walkers should not be picked up in that area. This area is designated for buses only.
