Iron Jawed Angels, Wednesday, August 19, 6:30pm The Kingston Community Library will mark the 95th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment with a screening of the award-winning film "Iron Jawed Angels". The film will be followed by a discussion period with prominent women of New Hampshire's political past. In December 1868, Armenia White started the NH Woman's Suffrage movement. Fifty-two years later, women's struggle for full enfranchisement was realized with the passage of the 19th Amendment on August 19, 1920. Seldom discussed is the jailing, beating, and torture of women struggling for voting rights. Iron Jawed Angels portrays the efforts of Alice Paul and other activists of the National Woman's Party to gain women the right to vote.
