GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE –August 2012 Charity – Unity – Fraternity – Patriotism Live your Faith! Brothers, Welcome to our newly elected officers, including our newest officers Chet Tyminski (Chancellor), Charles Fallon (Warden), and Dennis Ebert (Inside Guard). Also, thanks to Sean Tierney and Mil Dixon who also offered their services as Trustees. We stand ready to serve the Council through the next fraternal year. I hope you are all enjoying the summer. I enjoyed a wonderful vacation with my family out in the Southwest, visiting the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Parks. This is a relaxing time of year and a good chance to enjoy time with your families. As we gear up for the new fraternal year, we appreciate your thoughts and ideas. I want to thank John Silva for helping us modernize our web site to offer members information at the click of the mouse. John has added a calendar and the officers will work to forecast the key Council fraternal events for the year. In the future, we plan to add a capability to show photos of our Council events on the web also. The big upcoming event that we are working on now is the Fall Faire Fundraiser for the Council Building Corporation. Please get the word out to your friends and family to sign up for a vendor booth for $35 and please come help us sell food to raise additional funds. Thanks to Brothers John Cafazzo, Ron Beaupre and Steve Kintigos for landscape cleanup at the Building. Thanks to all of you for being a Knight. Happy Sailing. In Christ,
Mike Canavan, Grand Knight
Reading Fall Street Faire: Please support our upcoming home building fundraiser on Sunday, Sept 9, in conjunction with the Reading Fall Street Faire. We are selling vendor booths for $35 each for a 10x10 foot spot in our parking lot. Members of the council, friends of the council or others who would like to show off their business are encouraged to sign up for a booth at http://www.readingkofc.org/activities.htm. Its first come, first served, we only have 12 spots and 5 have been sold already. We will try to avoid having any similar business. We also need members to work at our own food booth that day. Please sign up now at the above link if you can help. Our House Needs Your Help: Please consider donating to this special fund to help pay for approximately $8,000 of needed repairs to our th building. Only $1,600 has been raised as of July 20 . The fire escape repair has been completed at a cost of approx. $6000. Masonry work to repair leaks around the windows will start shortly. If you are able to help please mail your donations to: Home Builders Corporation P.O. Box 24 Reading, MA 01867 Attn: Building Project Sick and Vigil: Dorothea Ebert passed away recently after a long illness. She was the wife of DGK Len Ebert and mother of Brother Knight Dennis Ebert. Our prayers go out to Len, Dennis and family during this difficult time. Mil Dixon is improving, he was even able and willing to provide his services to the Council as a Trustee. Brother John Cronin could use our prayers; he was recently transferred to Hospice Care. If you know of any brother or family member in need of prayers or assistance, communicate these needs to Ernie Arsenault for inclusion in the newsletter.
