At Home Study Guide For the week of July 17, 2016 Quick Review The book we call Philippians is an extended thank you note from the Apostle Paul to the church in Philippi for their care for him as a prisoner in Rome. Acts 28 recounts how Paul was faithful to preach the Gospel even while under house arrest. The small church in Philippi encouraged Paul and cheered him on to keep telling others the good news about Jesus. The church in Philippi began with a conversation with Lydia. She opened her house to Paul, Timothy, and Silas and encouraged them, prayed for them, rejoiced with them through their suffering in Philippi. God intervened when Paul and Silas were put in prison resulting in the salvation of many. Having seen Paul in prison before, this small group of Christians prayed for and encouraged Paul to remain faithful to Jesus.
