ASA STUDENT – ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIP BARBARA ARNOLD / STEEN / AUSSPRUNG MEMORIAL
Dear Peotone 207-U High School Senior: This tuition scholarship is given to enhance and aid the education of two (2) Peotone High School student- athletes, one male and one female. This money of $1,000.00 for each benefactor is being donated by Barbara’s family to honor her life and to commemorate the many good deeds that she did throughout her life with love for her family and others. This scholarship is referred to as the ASA Scholarship. The scholarship package consists of this application cover page and a two-page application with essay question which may be downloaded from the Peotone Educational Foundation's (PEF) website www.peotoneeducationalfoundation.org.
Pertinent information that you need to be aware of: 1. You must be a Peotone High School student-athlete who is the recipient of at least one Varsity Letter in a Peotone High School athletic sport. If you have not yet earned a Varsity Letter, but are participating in a spring sport, please contact the PEF Scholarship Committee Chairperson concerning allowable ‘Late-Proof of an Earned Varsity Letter’. Post High School athletic participation is not a requirement to be an applicant for this scholarship. 2. If you will be receiving a military, academic or athletic scholarship from your attending institution or any combination of the three that will equal more than half of the tuition cost of your first attending semester, trimester, or quarter, you will be ineligible for this scholarship. 3. You must be a citizen of the United States of America or a legal immigrant at the time of the scholarship application deadline and be fluent with the English language. 4. You must be graduating from Peotone High School at the end of this current school year or the semester prior and have attended PHS for at least two consecutive school years attaining a minimum 2.0 C-grade point average. 5. You must be of commendable character, in good standing within the school and the community, and have proven to possess a continuous high work ethic. 6. You must be attending as a full or part-time student at a not-for-profit institution, university, college, community college, or trade school during the fall session immediately following the end of the current PSH school year. This tuition-only scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable award that will be a one-time distribution paid directly to the institution. 1 of 2

7. Your completed scholarship application must be typed and submitted to the PHS Registrar/Guidance Department on or before the designated application deadline. An official transcript must be attached to the application. It is your responsibility to be alert to the scholarship application's due date. 8. The Peotone Educational Foundation is caretaker of the ASA Scholarship. 9. The male and the female scholarship benefactor agree to reimburse the Scholarship money of $1,000.00 if said benefactor withdraws his/her student status before completing the first quarter, semester, or trimester within sixty days of quitting the institution. The only exception to this rule will be if the scholarship benefactor provides the PEF with written proof from an attending physician that said student is unable to complete his/her student status due to a medical condition. This exception would also apply if the benefactor is forced to withdraw his/her student status due to grave illness of or an accident of an immediate family member and the benefactor is needed to give care or said instance drastically changes the family’s financial situation. No interest on the returned $1,000.00 will be charged to the benefactor by the Foundation.
