Art Infuses Academics •
As an Art Teacher at Valley View I have considered the role that visual art plays in other academic subject areas such as math, writing, reading, science and social studies and I have been integrating these subjects successfully. The Art curriculum has also incorporated state goals, and now Common Core math vocabulary, along with a look see each year to what is being covered on the ISAT test. Great pains are taken to compile curriculum that does help nurture students talents down all paths. Research supports the theory that Art have improved the academic level of children. And Art can and does serve as a stimulant that often awakens a child’s interest in school. The Art program within Valley View has made children come alive and excited about the learning process. It has built self-confidence and self-respect. As an Art Teacher I recognized that each child is unique.

In Closing…Art is a curriculum vehicle or curriculum tool that does enhance, enrich and nurture curriculum goals across all other academic subjects. Art is a subject area, that when incorporated wisely, can and has been tremendously beneficial to our Valley View students.
