MUSIC MAYHEM rules and regulations 1. At least one performer, per act, and must be a current SJSU student.
9. Each act will be responsible for keeping track of their own time. Judges will also be keeping track of time, and may deduct points for going over-time at their discretion.
2. Each act member under the age of 18 must have a parent signature on the entry form to participate. 3. Each act must submit one demo tape/CD/MP3 link as part of their application by the given deadline. Demos must represent all band members playing at the battle of the bands. 4. Act name and lyrics of performance songs must not contain excessive obscenities. The entire performance must be violencefree and suitable for a family audience. Judges may deduct points for excessive obscenities at their discretion. 5. In the event that more acts submit an entry form than spots allow, some bands may not have the opportunity to participate in this event. If this is the case, the A.S. Events team will select the top act, based on their discretion. 6. When an act is done performing, they are expected to allow the next act to get on stage as quickly as possible. 7. Act members must supply any musical instruments and equipment not provided by the host site. A sound system will be available at the competition, as well as a standard drum kit (see attached form). Act members are responsible for the security of their equipment and the event organizers cannot be held liable for any lost, damaged, or stolen equipment. 8. All acts will receive an equal amount of time on stage, 10 minutes to set up and 10 minutes to play. Time slots will be assigned randomly before the competition and all bands will be notified.
10. Drugs, alcohol, and tobacco are not permitted on the host site property during the competition. Any act who violates this rule will be immediately disqualified and will be charged in accordance with the University’s rules. 11. There may be a required band/organizer meeting prior to the performance. Acts will meet the organizers in charge of the event and go over last minute announcements. 12. All Act members must be available on the evening of the event, Wednesday, March 18th, 2015 between the hours of 6:00pm and 10:30pm. Times are not negotiable the day of the competition. If there is a conflict notify organizers before the show. Sound checks will be scheduled based on act’s availability the day of. 13. If an act encourages moshing or any other sort of violence in the crowd, the band will be disqualified for putting people in the crowd at risk. 14. All acts agree to have their name, voice, and/or likenesses used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without any compensation or rights to royalties for such use. 15. In the event of a tie, the acts will each play one song, and the winner will be chosen by the judges, based on that performance. 16. Applications are due to the A.S. House or to

By signing below, each band member confirms that he or she has read and will follow the rules and regulations of this battle of the bands competition. Any violation of these rules by any member of the band may result in disqualification of the entire band from the competition. All act members and guests (Contractor) shall hold harmless, indemnify, and defend the State of California, the Trustees of the California State University, San Jose State University, Associated Students, SJSU, Student Union, Inc. and officers, employees, volunteers and agents of each of them (all of which are hereinafter referred to as Indemnities) from and against any and all liability, loss, damage, expense, cost of every nature, and causes of actions arising out of or in connection with any negligence of Contractor, its officers, employees, and agents and any negligence of the Indemnities, to hold Indemnities harmless, and to pay for any damages occasioned by a negligent act or omission of the Indemnities, as well as any damages occasioned by its own negligence.
