2016 ANNUAL REPORT FIGHTING HUNGER, FEEDING HOPE SINCE 1975
Thanks to the generous support of people like you, the St. Louis Area Foodbank distributed nearly 42.5 million pounds of food throughout the bi-state region in 2016. We expanded our distribution programs by 13% over the previous year. We also completed construction on our Hunger Engagement Center, a state-of-the-art facility designed to help engage our community in the fight against hunger. • Provided over 314,000 pounds of food to local communities through school-based Mobile Market programs • Served over 8,000 meals to children at Summer Feeding Sites • Provided more than 6 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to families in need • Expanded our retail store pick up program to 227 area stores • Assisted over 9,800 senior citizens with monthly boxes of food through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program • Engaged approximately 16,000 volunteers in the Volunteer Repackaging Center
