Get Set……..Ready……..Go Pink
Cancer may have started the fight but the TMZ Foundation will finish it. Let’s walk to raise awareness about cancer but also of great significance would be to honour a loved one lost to the disease, celebrate another who survived and to support those who continue to fight against it. Cancer steals the lives of mothers, sisters, wives, daughters and friends. Friendships are often made between the participants as they share the walk and the experience of fighting against cancer for all the loved ones in their lives. Cancer is not contagious but the TMZ Foundation’s fighting spirit is. Early detection and prevention will save your life. Please join the TMZ Foundation to the launch of the 1st Annual Cancer Warriors Walk community programme which will take place during the month of February every year in commemoration of World Cancer Day. The walk will be on the 28th February 2015 at 9am in the Union Buildings Lawn, Tshwane. Most of the people in underserved rural areas and travelling from out of town will be transported by buses to where the walk will be taking place. There will be screening services on the day as well as pamphlets containing all the relevant information empowering our citizens on how they can make those life changing decisions to reduce the risk of getting cancer. Annual Warriors Walk Cancer Awareness Programme Outcomes The CA awareness programme by the TMZ Foundation is aimed at providing community awareness surrounding promoting Healthy Lifestyle, Cancer Health Education, Cancer detection with emphasis on early detection to save lives. After working through this programme the communities should achieve the following outcomes: Have a greater understanding of cancer as a diseases with specific reference to breast, cervical and prostate cancer Have a greater understanding of how cancer develops Understand the risk factors involved in cancer. Be aware of the prevalence of cancer

Have a better understanding of the screening and diagnosis of cancer Have the ability to detect cancer earlier Have a better understanding of benign breast disease Understand the staging of cancer Understand how cancer is treated Have knowledge of where to send cancer patients for assistance/ support Have an understanding of the patient’s rights regards to their cancer and treatment Have an understanding of the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis on the patient and family
You Can Make a Difference The research, education and treatment breakthroughs receive funds from donations/ pledges/ sponsorships from individuals, organizations, corporates and philanthropists like you. As always, local NGOs and other relevant stakeholders are invited to take up the challenge and join the TMZ Foundation by setting up their stands and screening services because the TMZ Foundation believes in working together as a collective.
