Creative Spirit Art Gallery presents

“With Reverence & Feeling” Featuring the art of David Cumbie, Les Jarvela, Byron Walker & Martha Mahoney Show opened November 12th and will run through December 4th.



Damian Caballero, a local artist and fine art printer at ArtSystems of Florida, will demonstrate his cutting-edge method of art production. His evocative and multi-layered paintings are produced by utilizing not only paint but the computer and the giclee printing process.

Beatrice Athanas participated in the Festival of the Masters Downtown Disney and received two purchase awards from Disney. The paintings will be on display in the Greek restaurant on Disney's Boardwalk. She also received an award of commendation at the Lake Mary-Heathrow art festival.

ALOC Members’ Show

Marianna Ross is participating in a group show called “Joyful Noise” at the Gateway Center for the Arts (GCA) in DeBary. Artist reception is Saturday, Nov. 20th from 4:30 to 6:30. The show will run through Dec. 24th. Call 386-668-5553 or www.gatewaycenterforthearts.org for info.

Tim Darnell is also participating in the group show “Joyful Noise” at GCA with five of his ballet paintings. He is also participating in the ALOC member’s December show at Creative Spirit Art Gallery and the annual Artists’ Registry show next month.



All participating members must be current in their dues.



The cost to each participating member is $5, payable upon drop-off of artwork.

Gayle Bell, Thomas Carmon, Fred Goodart, Arlene Kartak, Alan Lindenmuth, Ginny Seibert, Doris Smart, Ellen Smith and a number of other artists from various groups participated in an art show/sale at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs on Nov. 13. Thanks to the generosity of the participating artists, the event primarily raised funds for Hospice.



All participating artists should bring finger food (not a bag of chips or crackers) and/or wine to the opening. Please have utensils and plates for your dish.



Opening hours are Dec. 10th, from 6 to 9. Gallery will not be open before 5 for food/beverage drop-offs.

Annual Holiday Party

ALOC 2011 Year Book

and Competition

Cover Contest To enter the contest, you must:

Start preparing for our annual holiday party and competition on December 18th by getting your best and most recent artwork matted, framed and ready to show. This annual event is judged by your fellow artists and is an opportunity to win one of several ribbons with cash prizes!

1. Be an ALOC member with current membership dues paid. 2. Create an origiCreate nal cover design Design on half of an 8.5” Here x 11” (8.5” x 5.5”) white sheet of paper. 3. Create design in black only, with no gray tone or gray shading. 4. Bring your design to the December ALOC meeting. Members will vote for the winning design during this “Holiday” meeting.

You might also win a year-long ALOC membership if your entry is the winner in the annual ALOC Year Book Cover Contest” (see sidebar). We hope to see you at the December meeting with your best artwork, most festive and creative name tag and favorite holiday dish.

Arlene Kartak, President of ALOC, brought the October meeting to order. Arlene nominated Marianna Ross as Vice President of ALOC and the members voted unanimously in favor for her to fill the vacant position. Sunny the Rooster made an appearance with Jennie Bell, the author of his book. He had a little stage fright though and was uncharacteristically quiet. He didn’t let out even one cock-a-doodle-doo. After various pumpkinbased snacks, we had an interesting demo on the technique of fresco by Giuseppe Corazzina.

2011 Annual Member’s Exhibit at Gateway Center for the Arts in DeBary, FL. All GCA members are encouraged to participate and there is no entry fee for members. Drop off dates for show selection are Dec. 30th and Jan. 3rd. For further info, call 386-668-5553 or check www.gatewaycenterforthearts.org. The City of DeBary’s Holiday Village Festival, to be held at the Gateway Center for the Arts, is looking for participating artists. Event is Dec. 4th and 5th. Cash prizes will be awarded.
