District Profile The Alexandria Central School District is a small rural district located in the heart of the beautiful Thousand Islands region of the St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay, New York. The resort village is a major tourist attraction situated on the U.S. and Canadian border, just five miles north of the Thousand Islands International Bridge and Interstate 81. It is approximately 30 miles north of Watertown and Fort Drum, 100 miles north of Syracuse and 30 miles east of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The District covers an area of approximately 56 square miles of land and 10 of water, with an estimated population of 3,875 increasing substantially during the summer tourist season. The District is one of 18 served by the Jefferson -Lewis BOCES. The school district has a UPK-12 population of over 600 students housed in one building with a staff of 90 full time personnel. The school offers many extracurricular and interscholastic activities. The school is considered the hub of the community where most civic, social, and cultural activities take place. Elementary classes include full day sessions of Universal Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. The District strives to maintain small classes to enable students to receive individualized instruction. In addition to the State required curriculum at the secondary level, the District provides many other course offerings and electives. Alexandria Central participates in the Jefferson EDGE program, where students are concurrently enrolled in high school and college courses that accrue for college credit. Many secondary students attend vocational and technical training programs offered by the Jefferson-Lewis BOCES. Technology is integrated into the curriculum at all grade levels. Elementary and secondary students also receive technology instruction in our computer lab. Classrooms are equipped with computers, smart boards, document cameras, and projectors. Four mobile laptop carts and one iPad cart are utilized for instruction on a daily basis. Several computers are also available for teacher and student use in the computer lab and library media center. The District’s distance learning room has recently been updated with state-of-the-art technology equipment which is utilized by high school students who are enrolled in distance learning classes. Students in all grade levels have the opportunity to take virtual field trips via our new videoconferencing equipment. The Library Media Center services all grade levels. In addition to print resources, many online resources including online databases and e-books are available for teacher and student use.

January 1, 2018 COMPENSATION Under the leadership of the current Superintendent, the school and community experienced growth in quality programs and enhanced facilities. The Board seeks an exceptional candidate with successful building and district administrative experience to continue the process. The salary range has been established a minimum of $115,000 commensurate with experience. A full selection of negotiated benefits will be offered to the successful candidate. Residency is preferred. The successful candidate will understand the unique character of the school community and be willing to become an active visible member of the community, along with being personally involved in the total educational program.
