and out, etc. Window allows you to adjust the elements of your interface. This is an important menu if you ever lose one of your interface items.

The Photoshop Toolbar One of the most important essentials of Photoshop interface is the Toolbar. It contains icons that represent the different tools used in PS to alter and create images. The bar includes tools for selecting specific areas of images, changing colors of the image, stretching, cropping, erasing, transforming and much, much more. Scroll over each tool to get an explanatory tooltip. Only one tool can be activated from the toolbar at a time. Percent of Image Size in Workspace Also next to the toolbar is the image size percent indicator. This is the percent of the full size image as it appears in the workspace. You can increase and decrease this size by clicking on the number. You can increase the size beyond 100 percent. This is useful if you are making small adjustments to a certain part of the image. Note: Tools are often stacked together. To reveal grouped tools click and hold your mouse on that tool and a pop-up will open all the tools in that group.

Photoshop Panes The Panes area display information such as tool options, the color palette, styles, layers, adjustments and more. Some of these functions are duplicated in other Photoshop menus, but they are easier to access from the Panes once you become familiar with Photoshop. (1) Each Pane has action buttons at the bottom of the Pane to help you work with the Pane features. (2) One of the important Panes is History, which displays a dialog of all the changes you have made on a project. You can use the History Pane action tools to delete states (changes) you made to your project. (3) The Layers Pane - PS documents are made of layers, which are like panes of glass or sheets that hold a piece of the image or project. Layers can contain added text, images and adjustments made to the project. They can be arranged and grouped together and their visibility can be modified. Tip: If you are trying to perform a task and nothing is happening, make sure you have the layer selected in the Layers Pane.
