Auto features for contrast, tone, color Layer Adjustment (Black/White, Brightness/Contrast, Hue/Saturation) Filters

Adjusting Images Using Auto Features - Good for Beginners A quick way to improve the quality of a picture is to use Photoshop's auto features. To use these features, open your photo from the Photoshop Menu File > Open.... And then select (1) Image. There are three auto features: Tone, Contrast and Color. Click on each action to apply them to the photo. Tone refers to the variance of the dark and light in the photo. The auto feature will adjust the black and white points for the photo to keep balance, but may change the overall color feel of the image. Contrast refers to the distinction between highlights and shadows within the photo. The auto feature will make highlights appear lighter and shadows darker. Color refers to the overall color palette of the image. The auto feature will neutralize color midtones, sharpening the color palette in the image. Note: The use of these auto features will be applied to the image layer selected, i.e. they will not create a new layer. If you want to preserve a copy of your layer without the auto changes, right-hand click on the layer and select Duplicate Layer....
