About the WLC: Each summer, over 400 students from around the globe gather together for a week-long program that empowers them to embrace their personal leadership potential. Currently, HOBY runs 70 leadership seminars across the United States each spring, engaging More than 9,500 high school students. Internationally, HOBY affiliates conduct leadership development programs in Canada, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Following these programs each year, students are selected to attend HOBY’s World Leadership Congress (WLC). What to Expect at the World Leadership Congress: HOBY works hard to make sure each and every student has a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience at the WLC, as well as an amazing educational experience that will develop their leadership competency while building confidence and a passion for service. Our program, based on the social change model of leadership takes students through the four phases of leadership:  Personal Leadership  Group Leadership  Leadership for Society  Global Leadership We bring in speakers, professionals, educators, and citizens that participate in panel presentations, keynote addresses and activities so students have the opportunity to learn from a diverse group of leaders in a wide range of fields. We combine the “classroom” aspect of our program with hands-on learning, including a day of community service throughout the city of Chicago. ALL students arrive on Saturday, July 20 and the program begins that afternoon and concludes with the closing banquet on Friday, July 26th. Students depart on Saturday, July 27th. HOBY does offer an early arrival option for international students as well as an optional three-day tour program at the conclusion of the WLC, offering those students who would like to see more of Chicago the opportunity for an organized, chaperoned tour, those students depart on Monday, July 29th. Other Details... What’s included in the registration fee? The registration fee of $1650 USD includes the following for every delegate:  Transportation from the Chicago airport to the Loyola campus on Saturday, July 20.  All program materials.  WLC T-shirts to be worn throughout the week.  Lodging on campus July 20—July 27.  All meals beginning with lunch on July 20 through breakfast on July 27.  All transportation for program events.  Closing Banquet at the Navy Pier.  Transportation to the airport for departure flights, Saturday, July 27.  Assistance with Visa requests, as needed. Available for an additional fee: Early Arrival for International Students: Friday, July 19; includes transportation from the airport, housing and meals. $100 per person Post WLC “Best of Chicago” Tour Package: See all the popular sites of Chicago, including Navy Pier, Architectural Boat Cruise, visit to the Museum Campus, and much more!! Includes all entrance fees, local transportation, meals, and housing. $450 per person. Who’s Eligible to Attend: Any student who attends a HOBY program at any of our domestic or international programs is eligible to attend the WLC in that program year. Additionally, HOBY makes space available to international programs, schools and students, that do not have access to a local HOBY program the opportunity to attend the World Leadership Congress. Students must meet the following criteria: 1. Have demonstrated leadership potential 2. Be between the ages of 15-17 years old at the time of the program 3. Be proficient in English 4. Submit the program fee of $1650 USD by the deadline, June 28, 2013 5. Have any/all legal documents to travel to the USA Registration for the 2013 WLC opens on March 15, 2013.
