A Message From the Grand Knight Dear Brother Knights and Ladies,
I would like to have a membership drive so we can have new faces in our council. I hope to have this at IHM. When I receive all the information I will be asking for everyone’s help. I would also like to have a fundraiser to support our two seminarians, Juan Pablo Daza and Nelson Bernal. When we donate $500 to a seminarian, we receive a rebate of $100 from Supreme. The Corporation meeting is the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7pm. The Grand Knight and Trustee’s are required to attend this meeting. All others are encouraged and invited to attend. I would like to see more people at the rosary on the 1st Saturday of the month. The monthly rosary is held at 10am at St. Genevieve’s. Please pray for the unborn. Vivat Jesu Carlos Castro Grand Knight
$ POT of GOLD $ The 50/50 Raffle is back! Come to the business meeting the first Wednesday of each month and buy a chance to win. You must be present to win. (50% goes to the Vocation’s Fund and the other 50% goes with you.)
Family Unity The August Family Unity Potluck dinner is scheduled for August 18, at 6pm. So bring your potluck dishes. Come join the fun and great food. Bring your family and friends! Please let us know if you plan to bring guests.
Bingo!!! Volunteers are needed to work the BINGO. Call Mike Frietze @ 6427523 to sign up. Tuesdays - 7pm KC Hall Remember, bingo gaming pays the council bills.
Long-Term Care Plans Offer Peace of Mind Matthew Seltzer
Since its addition to the Order’s product portfolio in 2000, longterm care insurance has provided the Knights of Columbus with an excellent opportunity to further serve members and their families. And, for our longterm care clients in the United States, a Knights of Columbus Care policy brings added value. That added value is in the form of a service called “Provider Pathway,” a program offering access to a network of long-term care providers at discounted rates. The network includes discounts on products, such as hearing aids, diabetic supplies, personal emergency response systems, and durable medical equipment, as well as skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, and adult day care. This program is not available in Canada as of yet due to the limited number of providers.
Eligibility for participation in this program is open to Knights of Columbus long-term care insurance policyholders, their spouses, dependent children, parents and parents-in-law. All providers are fully credentialed and meet state licensing requirements. If you haven’t yet spoken with me about long-term care insurance, you owe it to yourself to do so. There are a few decisions to make in choosing a “plan” — a home health care plan or one that covers facility only, benefit amounts and durations, and the length of the “waiting period” before benefits kick-in. Having a professionally trained agent ― and a brother Knight you can trust ― to help guide you through the process is yet another valuable benefit that comes with your membership. Take advantage of it; contact me today.

The First Degree is the most important Degree that can be conferred on a Knight. It is that which sets the tone for his experience in the Order. For this reason we need to have a First Degree Team that can make it memorable. This, in turn, requires back-up team members who can fill in when a primary team member can’t make it— or perhaps to take turns in the assigned officer role. Do you think YOU can learn a part? The ceremonials are easy to learn.
Corporate Communion Mannie Morales
TheAugust Corporate Communion is scheduled for August 11th and 9am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Please spread the word. The next Corporate Communion is scheduled for October 2013. Knights of Columbus Family Week is August 10-18 in memory of the 123rd anniversary of our founder, Father McGivney’s, death on August 14, 1890 at the age of 38.
God Bless You and Best Wishes
