Worry A Different Perspective • Apostle Paul has reason to worry and even fear as he penned the fourth chapter of Philippians. • Paul was actually in prison for preaching the Gospel and could possibly be executed • Paul wrote: 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

Worry A Different Perspective • Paul teaches us two things through this passage: 1. We don't have to worry about what will happen when we know who is in charge!

Worry A Different Perspective 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. • Don’t worry be happy! • Don't worry, just pray! • We need to learn to trust in the Lord. • We need to give the situation for the Lord and leave it with Him. • The God Box – (symbolizes leaving things to the Lord)

Worry A Different Perspective • Jesus says it this way in Matthew 6:25-33

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?

Worry A Different Perspective • Jesus says it this way in Matthew 6:25-33 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you.

Worry A Different Perspective • Jesus says it this way in Matthew 6:25-33

Why do you have so little faith? “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Worry A Different Perspective • Paul continues in Philippians 4: • 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. • We often worry about what we have and our status.

I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
