SHORT COURSE ON ‘CLIMATE CHANGE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT’
9th- 20th November 2015 The Institute of Resource Assessment (IRA) of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) wishes to announce a two-week short course on ‘CLIMATE CHANGE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT’ which is organized under the African Climate Change Fellowship Program (ACCFP). As a regional capacity building program, the ACCFP offers experiential learning, education, and research and training opportunities to African professionals, researchers and graduate students to develop their capabilities for advancing and applying knowledge for climate change adaptation in Africa. ACCFP is jointly administered by the Institute of Resource Assessment (IRA) of the University of Dar es Salaam (i.e. the ACCFP Secretariat) and the International START based in Washington DC with funding from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada.The purpose of the short course is to develop capacity of the participants for advancing and applying scientific knowledge for climate change adaptation by learning the following modules:
climate change and water resources; climate change and gender; climate change and green growth; and economics of climate change adaptation.
Targeted course participants The short course on climate change and sustainable development targets practitioners and nonpractitioners working with government and non-government institutions on water resources, gender, wildlife, forestry, agriculture, fisheries, land, and other several environmental and socioeconomic related fields. Language The course will be conducted in English. Participants are supposed to possess basic English proficiency to be able to follow the course and be actively involved in the training activities. Course fees The course fee for both local and international participants will be 1,000,000 Tanzanian Shillings (US$ 500) for two weeks. The fee will cover the course material, lunch, refreshments and one day field visit to a selected site. ACCFP will provide partial funding for a limited number of participants based on the items specified in the application forms. Training venue The short course will be conducted at the Institute of Resource Assessment (IRA) at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
