Summer has definitely set in and boy has it been hot! It worries me to think what it’s going to be like in August for . Show Me Stampede. Of course, as I am sitting here writing this on the 4th of July it is 70 degrees and raining at 1:00 in the afternoon, so who knows. I hope everyone that attended dessert night at Fast Lane had a good time playing the price is right game and gorging on fabulous desserts. There were some wonderful desserts there! Show Me Stampede is coming up very soon. I would like to thank everyone who has been working to get sponsorships, and also those who have volunteered to help the day of the show. We can always use more help, and there are several ways you can help. If you haven’t volunteered yet, please do so now. We can definitely use your talent and support. One more thing, there are several events going on around our area. If you attend any of these events, please distribute our Show Me Stampede fliers while you are there. If you don’t have fliers, please contact me or Karen and we will do our best to hook you up. I hope to see you out at area events or FUNctions! Until then, OPEN DOOR…BUCKLE UP…HAMMER DOWN…RUN HARD!

St. Charles Elks Cruise, Detailing Seminar & Pork Steak LUNCH This year it didn't rain for a change, Just got into the mid-90's. Very warm! Those attending:.. It was very helpful to all. They gave it indoors as it was too hot to think about outside. The lunch was once again great, thanks to Tom and the crew at the Elk's. It was delicious. Those pork steaks are the best in town. At the end of the day, Show Me Mustang donated $100.00 to the Elk's Club for their charity, USO of Missouri. A good time was had by all in spite of the heat.

Dessert Nite/Price Is Right Game/Judging Seminar I’m guessing no one weighed themselves after the June dessert nite! Hahaha! There were, as always, some delicious treats (calories held). Thank you to everyone that came out with a dessert or snack; they were all pretty much gone by the end of the nite!!!! Mitch presented our judging seminar along with the revamped judging sheets so members could get a first hand glimpse at the process & confidence to try their hand at judging. Becky provided a fantastic & FUN Price is Right Game. The lucky winner, Keith Kneemiller, took home a package of $72.49 worth of prizes with his winning final total. We also gave out a 2nd & 3rd prize for the next closest to Derrick Bilzing & Rosemary Harty. Congrats to all!!!! You had to have the final price without going over & poor Linda Atwell was only over by 8 cents - impressive shopping skills!!! Thanks to FastLane Classic Cars for the air conditioned party room & discount in the gift shop. It is certainly one of SMMC’s favorite member FUNctions every year.

*We are planning on the same format of Monthly FUNctions for 2016 with just a couple new ideas on the list. We need a group for the activities committee to handle scheduling of these events & be the point of contact for club members. We can always use help on the activities committee being the club contact & confirming events.

WELL WISHES Losing a fellow Mustang fan is hard; at the June dessert nite we raised our glasses in a toast to Merle Bone. RIP Congrats to Tom Maue on his new garage addition – 2016 Shelby GT350R! Can’t wait to see it on the track. It was good to see Keith Kneemiller, our lucky Price is Right game winner, at dessert nite. Keith is doing well thru his chemo treatments & fighting thru like a champ. If you have been to any shows & received an award or got a new Mustang or any other news; let Becky know for the next newsletter. Cut off for info is the 26th of each month.

Indy Labor Day 2016 - $100 per car & 2 people.

Additional events at additional cost – all thru the event website. REGISTRATION CLOSES JULY 18th Please let Staci know if you are attending & if staying at club hotel or elsewhere. If we have a large enough group, possible we could arrange M.O.R.E. parking or maybe combine with another MCA club. Last we’ve heard there are a couple members signed up for racing too; that will be fun to support our fellow members out on the track!

SMMC HOTEL INFO: UPDATE: Only a few rooms left in our block. Please contact Staci Bilzing for information on the hotel & how to hold a room in your name (we have had trouble in the past with non members seeing our newsletter info & taking rooms in our block so trying to keep secured for members). That weekend is also the NHRA US Nationals in Indy & hotel rooms are very hard to get & price will continue to go up as the events approach. *The Guinness World Record attempt is $15 per car & ends at the Lucas Oil Raceway for the nite qualifying of NHRA. You will be responsible to purchase your own tickets for that thru NHRA we are told. No info on parking situation there if you decide to do that.
