MAMRELUND LUTHERAN CHURCH

“Sharing God’s Bounty on the Ridge” 148 TH YEAR OF SERVING C HRIST & THE COMMUNITY . As crowds welcomed Jesus that first Palm Sunday, we welcome him among us today. Hosanna! Let us worship together. Sunday, March 29, 2015 ~ Palm Sunday/Sunday of the Passion CELEBRATING OUR

FIRST READING: Isaiah 50:4–9a The image of the servant of the Lord is one of the notable motifs in the book of Isaiah. Today's reading describes the mission of the servant, whom early Christians associated with Jesus. Like Jesus, the servant does not strike back at his detractors but trusts in God's steadfast love. SECOND READING: Philippians 2:5–11 Christ did not act to attain status and glory but was obedient to God even to the point of death. Following Christ's example, we do not seek personal status or glory but care for others as God cared for us in Christ's death. HOLY GOSPEL: Mark 14:1—15:47 The passion story in Mark's gospel presents Jesus as one who dies abandoned by all. He shows himself to be the true Son of God by giving his life for those who have forsaken him. Readings for your meditation during distribution of communion Psalm 34, pg. 23 1n the Green Hymnal ~ Psalm 67, pg. 243 in the Green Hymnal As we leave the sanctuary, let us greet one another with joy over what we have heard – the Good News of salvation. Our Mission Statement Mamrelund Lutheran Church is a Christ centered, Bible based community of believers using God given gifts to help all God’s children grow in faith and love. The annual Spring Gathering of Region 6 Women of the ELCA will be on Saturday, April 18, at Mamrelund. Region 6 covers all of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan except for the areas around the Detroit/Flint area. This is quite an honor for us. We have not held an event here at Mamrelund for well over ten years. We hope to have a good turnout, especially from women right here at Mamrelund. Put this date on your calendar! The program will focus on contemporary issues facing women and girls. The issue of human trafficking and it is happening here...not somewhere in a foreign country. We encourage young women and girls to come to this informative meeting to learn more about this issue. There is something we can about it, and the first step is to be knowledgeable. Our main speaker will tell you the latest information, what is being done in the legislature, and what to look for so as to prevent victimization. We will also enjoy a time of fellowship, music, and worship. It is a great way to spend a morning and early afternoon spring day, and cost is only $10, which includes refreshments in the morning and a delicious lunch. We would like to know how many to plan for, so please fill out a slip from the information center and leave it at the church office. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Thank YOU, and see you there! KITCHEN CLEANINNG BEE is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 10am-1pm! Please join us as we give both kitchens a good spring cleaning! Our first Rummage Sale Collection Day will be Saturday, April 25 from 10-1pm. Our rummage sale is scheduled for 2016, but we need to start collecting items now. So clean out your closets, attic and basement and bring us your “treasures”.
