LOBURN SCHOOL NEWSLETTER May 25 2017 Innovative - Dynamic - Exciting Phone 3128828 Email
[email protected] Nau mai, hoki mai Dear Parents, Well done to all of the students who participated in the cross country yesterday. There were many outstanding performances from the students and not just those ones that won their races. As I have said recently, distance running is not for all, and I take my hat off to those students who persevered and completed the race, even though they were finding it tough going. Thank you to those parents who helped with marshalling and the BBQ. It certainly makes our job a lot easier. Our school race is very much one of participation, whereas the next two races (Tri Schools and Rakahuri) are competitive. The results are on the following page as well as the list of students competing in the Tri Schools event next week. If there are any parents who can take transport on Monday and can help with marshalling, can they please contact Mrs Knight on
[email protected] Positive Behaviour Survey Thank you to the parents who have completed the survey. We have had a fantastic response and your comments will help us to ensure we are continuing to provide the best environment for our students. The survey is open until Friday, https://goo.gl/04OMez

Next Tuesday the student leaders will be attending the Young Leaders Day in Christchurch. This nationwide event attracts students from all over the country and includes inspirational speakers that will hopefully leave a lasting impression on our students. Before the end of the week or early next week all families will be issued one sheet of raffle tickets to sell. Each sheet contains 10 tickets at $2 each. Money raised from this, the quiz night and the auction will go towards new books and resources for the school library. The raffle will be drawn on Friday 16 June (Quiz Night). Please take note of the production times and schedules included in the newsletter. School will close at 2pm on Wednesday 5 July to ensure all students are ready and rested for the performance on the Wednesday evening. Tickets will go on sale within the next couple of weeks. Have a great weekend. Hei konā rā Stuart

Team South We have been very busy in Team South this term. We started off the term looking at Time in maths. We created our own clocks and learnt how to read analogue and digital clocks. We had a fantastic day walking Mt Thomas. It was a challenge for some of us, however we all persevered and completed it with smiles on our faces. We have been looking at “Water” in topic at the moment. We have learnt about ways we use water, and have done some experiments on water pollution. We have found it very interesting.
This week we had our school Cross Country. We all tried our best and we are really proud of how we went. For the rest of the term, we are focussing on our production. We are designing and creating “Under the Sea” costumes.
