Wild Rice Harvesting
Summer Dance For Youth Are you ready to dance? Madeline Gilman is back this summer, eager to give you four jam packed sessions of great dance moves! Jazz, Ballet/Lyrical, Hip Hop & Tap. Please wear comfortable clothing & wear tennis or dance shoes.
Stepping Stone Painting For
Students ages 10+ will receive easy step by step instruction painting with acrylic on a 14" diameter stepping stone, the stone weighs approximately 20lbs. Stone will be ready for ML School Auditorium display and use after class. Class June 4,6,11 & 13 (4 nights total) takes approximately 3 hours. All 5:00-6:00 p.m. Ages 3-5 instruction and supplies included in 6:00-7:00p.m. Ages 6-10 cost. Kids and Family Fishing Clinic Presented by Professional Fisherman Spencer Deutz What you’ll learn: On the water safety, fish identification, stopping the spread of aquatic hitchhikers, knot tying, how to net fish, casting techniques, and a tour of a 2017 Ranger 620FS Powered by a Yamaha Outboard VF250XA tournament boat. All participants will receive a free rod & reel combination, t-shirt, fishing journal, and an AIS water bottle, courtesy of the National Professional Anglers Association’s Future Angler Foundation

Red Cross Swimming Lessons at East Central Pool *New Location* Mondays-Thursdays Eight days of lessons total. Levels 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 are offered. The bus is available for students 6yrs. & older &/or have finished Kindergarten. The bus will pick up & drop off students in front of the Main entrance of the school. Supervisor, Barb Lund ,will call students by name before they can get on the bus each day. Wear your suit to the pool & change into your clothes after the lesson. Bring a lunch to eat while the other group is swimming, also bring a book or game-BUT NO ELECTRONICS OR CELL PHONES. Lessons are taught by Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructors. Bus and pool supervisors are Barb Lund, Vicki Radzak & youth staff. July 23-26 & July 30-Aug. 2 Eight days of instruction. Lessons begin at 9:00 a.m. and run until 12:50 p.m. Bus will LEAVE Moose Lake School at 8:20 a.m. and RETURN approximately 1:30 p.m.

Summer is a great time to begin-or continue on with the skills you’ve learned. Students can jump into this Youth Driver’s Classroom Education Gymnastic Program at any time –at any age. Class will include warm up, stretching, and basic tumbling as well as balance beam and vault activities. Instructor, Carrie Comm. Ed. offers teen driver’s education in cooperation Sandell is the MLWR Cheerleading Coach and her with Mille Lacs Driving Instruction(MLDI). The goal of philosophy is to incorporate students of all abilities in MLDI is not only to have students pass their driving test, each of her classes, giving them a challenging physical but to help them become safe drivers. All instructors are workout & good form to enhance their gymnastic licensed by the MN. Dept. of Public Safety. Old School Photography Workshop
We’re not taking you to the Dark Ages-we’re taking you to our new Dark Room!!!! Instructor, MLHS Art Teacher Tracy Kill, will take you on a jam packed journey from using an actual pinhole camera to developing black & white 35 mm film in the dark room. On the docket: photo composition, SLR camera basics, loading film, understanding apertures & film speeds, dark room film developing, pinhole camera photography and stencilgrams & MORE!! If you own or can borrow a 35mm SLR camera, bring it with you-if not, we do have cameras for you to use. (Don’t bring a point and shoot camera), please. This course is great for ages16+. Tracy’s main request of you? Bring your imagination and creativity and be prepared to have FUN!! Wild Rice Harvesting Wild rice…the symbolic grain of the North! Join wild rice enthusiasts, Todd & Louise Kneeland, as they guide you through an introduction into harvesting wild rice. You’ll learn about equipment needed, techniques, scouting out wild rice beds, selling your green rice harvest or finding finishers to process the green rice into an edible product- and lots more. A possible Fall demonstration on the Moose Horn River will be discussed with the class. For ages 10+.

Intro To Machine Sewing
Let’s learn how to make this tasty treat and a few Learn to sew while making an easy, cute summer tote bag simple toppings! We will make a large batch of from scratch! Kathy Lundgren, owner of Kathy’s Country vanilla ice cream, a fruit sorbet and strawberry Square, will teach you about fabrics, how to make a pattern, topping. We will also learn the difference between cut, pin and sew. By the end of the three week session, ice cream terms and leave with all recipes. Come you’ll have the sewing machine knowledge to work on hungry and enjoy the fruits of our labor at the end of projects of your own. Bring your own machine, if you don’t have one, talk to Kathy.
