(Discussion questions on back)

Discussion Questions: 1. Jesus is the TRUE vine. What are some other vines we try to connect to in this life….to satisfy….to bring meaning….to create identity, etc.? 2. The Father is the Vinedresser. It is He who ultimately decides who to prune and who to throw away. In other words, He is the One who examines spiritual fruit. But aren’t we called to confront sin, encourage holiness? This requires (at some level) Christians to examine the lives of our spiritual family. How do we do this and not replace or usurp the role of the Vinedresser? How do we not become annoying, nit-picky, self-righteous “fruit-examiners”? 3. Of the three fruits Pastor Clint presented in his sermon, which one/s are visible in your life? Which one/s are not? Please share with the group the hindrances that stunt your spiritual growth in these areas. Then share what practically can be done THIS WEEK. 4. Often times Christians struggle with the concept of assurance of salvation. In other words, some Christians wonder if there is ENOUGH visual fruit to assure them they are truly saved. What would you tell/counsel/encourage a newer Christian who came to you struggling with this issue? What scripture passages would you go to or how does this text specifically speak to this common issue?
