Staff changes

Welcome to Wesley Intermediate School’s new staff

We are very pleased to see families in our community putting faith in the teaching staff at our school. We have had an increase in our roll numbers which have resulted in a few changes.

This year we have a new teacher, Mr Mark Edwards, who will be the teacher in Room 8. Mr Edwards has come from Manurewa Intermediate School. He has a strength in teaching Science and is keen to coach sports teams. Mr Crowe has moved from being a classroom teacher, to a specialist technology teacher and will be running our Workshop Programme. Mrs Clare Brink returns to our school as the teacher in Room 4. In her previous position, Mrs Brink, was in charge of the Intermediate students at Orewa College and was Teacher in charge of the digital programme at that school. Miss Patria Davis now has a full time position at our school and is in charge of the Learning Hub, the Library and the Resource Room. Miss Davis previously taught for a number of years at Robertson Road School and has a real passion for teaching English.

PB4L focus this weekAt Wesley Intermediate, we teach behaviour like we teach Maths, Reading and Writing. We will be focusing on the core values in each school context during the first two weeks. Students have been having lessons on how to enter the hall, the BIG 4 and emergency procedures.

Steps for addressing behaviour 1. Staff are trained to use PB4L strategies like re-teach, redirect and conferencing to help learners improve their behaviour. Also a restorative chat is held with students involved. 2. A staff member may contact the parent about the incident and set up a plan to support the respective student/s. The Assistant/Deputy Principal or RTLB may be involved to support teachers, students and families. 3. If steps one and two cannot resolve the concerns, a parent meeting will be held with the Principal or Deputy Principal before formal disciplinary steps are taken with the Board of Trustees.
