REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS SUMMER DRIVER EDUCATION Registration Information – Please read carefully •

Registration will close on March 31, 2017.

•

Your student MUST be 15 years of age by May 1, 2017 in order to enroll in this class. There are no exceptions.

•

Classes will be filled according to age with the oldest students being given priority. Filling out the registration form does not guarantee admission into the class.

•

Fill out the registration form AND the summer Driver Education application completely and return to Marcy Petersen in the Main Office by 3:30 p.m. on March 31, 2017. Forms turned in after this date will be put on a waiting list and contacted as spots become available.

•

Students selected to participate in the Summer Driver Education program will be notified by e-mail after the registration closes.

•

Once your student has received confirmation that they have been accepted into the program, they will need to bring a check for $20 made out to the Illinois Secretary of State. The $20 will cover the cost their permit and their Driver License. At that time, they will be given a Rules of the Road booklet to study.

Permit tests and eye exams will be given at Maine South High School on May 15, 2017 in room C101-A at 3:30 p.m. Students should bring their Chromebook and glasses (if they wear them).

Course Information Dates June 5 through June 28, 2017 Please note these dates & times are different from all other summer class offerings Times 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Please indicate your first, second and third choice of time slot on the registration form. The In-District cost for the class is $350.00. For students outside of District 207 boundaries the cost is $550.00. There will be no discount for Free or Reduced Lunch status students.

Attendance Because coursework is concentrated and equals the work assignments that would be received in a regular school year semester, attendance and punctuality are absolutely necessary. One day in summer school is equal to five or six days in the regular school year, therefore, students must attend each and every day. Due to state laws and restrictions, any absence could potentially result in the student being dropped from Driver Education with a failing grade and no refund. Students with excessive tardiness to class may be dropped from the course with a failing grade and no refund. Students will not be excused for trips or vacations. Please plan your summer accordingly. If a pre-arranged absence is absolutely necessary, it must be approved by the Summer School Director or Dean of Students, not the teacher.
