Enrolling in Driver Education for the 2017-2018 school year: Students who request driver education by February 14, 2017, for the next school year will be sorted by graduation year and birthday. Preference will be given to seniors, then juniors, etc. by birth date. Students can typically expect to take driver education the semester they turn 16, but that depends on the number of spots allocated for driver education each school year. Once spots are filled, students who request driver education will be placed on a wait list in the order requests are received. Preference will not be given to graduation year as upperclassmen are given priority during the regular course request season. Per Illinois law, students must have passed eight classes before taking driver education. Cary-Grove Driver Education Information can be found here.
High School District 155 Summer School Driver’s Education Program
All four District 155 schools will provide a 4-week summer driver’s education program, which consists of classroom (5 days a week) and behind the wheel (2 days a week) instruction.
Summer School Drivers Education will run: June 5th through June 30th at Cary-Grove High School
Students must be 15 years old before May 1st in order to be enrolled in the summer program.
Students need to pass a written and vision test in order to obtain their permit.
Costs: - $100 check made payable to student’s high school for lab fees - $20 check made payable to “Secretary of State” for permit
Note: No refunds will be given if students are dropped from the course due to absences or failure.
We will NOT be offering the CDTP test. Therefore, all students will need to take their driver’s test at the DMV facility when they turn 16 and have completed their 50 logged practice hours.
Students can only miss 1 period of class, which must be made up. Students may NOT miss at all during the last week of class, due to time constraints to make-up class time. It is the responsibility of the student to make-up any missed classes.
