1. A & F Bus Company, Inc. Scholarships: One award of $1,000 to a deserving student planning to further his/her education at an institution of higher learning.

2. Adopt-A-Class Sponsored by RE/MAX Experts, Beverlee Vidoli: Scholarships totaling $20,775 for high school seniors residing in Burlington who have met and participated in the required Adopt-A-Class activities.

3. The Adler, Blanchard & Associates Scholarship: A $500 award to a graduating Burlington High School Senior planning to major in accounting, teaching or nursing.

4. Susan Alterisio Cardelle Memorial Scholarships: Scholarships totaling $12,500 will be awarded to students most exemplifying Susan's academic qualities, love of family, life and sports, and the courage never to give up.

5. American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #273 Awards: Four awards of $400 each to deserving students who wish to continue their education.

The Axial Financial Scholarship: Axial Financial and the Marchese Family are awarding one $2,500 scholarship, given to a student who will pursue a career in finance and has made a positive contribution to Burlington. Michael F. Marchese, CFP®, CPA, is a founder and managing principal of Axial and a lifelong resident of Burlington.

8. The Residents at Atria Longmeadow Place Scholarship: A $500 award to a deserving student who will attend a two or four year college or university.

9. BAE Systems Scholarships: Five awards of $1,000 each to deserving students pursuing a career in mathematics, science, or engineering.

11. The Jay Beaulieu and Karl Robert Liljegren Memorial Scholarship: Two $500 awards given in memory of Jay Beaulieu (Class of 1978) and Karl Robert Liljegren (Class of 1977) to the class of 2017 male and female Scholar-Athletes, as selected by the BHS Coaches. 2

The Mercedes-Benz of Burlington Scholarships: Two $5,000 awards to two Burlington High School students who have demonstrated a significant impact for a “Better” Burlington by making a difference in school, community, or otherwise. *** 13. The Bikram Yoga “Good Yogi Award”: This $1,050 award to a deserving student who exemplifies qualities such as community awareness, positivity, and often going out of his or her way to help others. **

14. The Dennis Brennan Memorial Scholarship: One award of $1,000 given in memory of Dennis Brennan. Dennis was a husband, and a father of three daughters, all graduates of Burlington schools. Dennis took night classes for twenty years to earn his degree in Computer Engineering. This award goes to a college-bound senior.

15. The BHS Art Department Scholarship: Two $500 awards to students who plan to pursue a degree in one of the visual arts.

16. BHS 1982 – 1994 Men’s Varsity Basketball Alumni Scholarship: This $600 award, donated by members of the BHS Men’s Varsity Basketball alumni from 1982 through 1994, is presented to the senior who truly understands and appreciates the intrinsic values that the “game of basketball” offers.

17. The BHS English Department Diligence Award: An award of $400 for a student who developed and evolved in his or her English classes at BHS.

18. The BHS Business Scholarship: This $500 scholarship is for a student planning to major in business who demonstrated an interest in developing business skills by taking business classes and participating in DECA and/or the BHS School Store. The funds from this scholarship are generously donated by the BHS School store which is run jointly by the BHS Business and World Language Teachers.

19. The JW Brine, III Foundation Scholarship: Two awards of $1,000 given to one male student and one female student in memory of Jim Brine, a lifelong resident of Burlington. This award is given to a multi-sport athlete who has given back to others through community service and plans to further his or her education after high school.

20. Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce Awards In Memory of Harold Dulong: $1,000 awards to students who are selected for commendable commitment to scholarship and community service. Additional consideration will be given to students if they and/or a parent are employed by a BACC member organization. These awards are given in memory of Harold Dulong whose dedication to community and generosity to the town of Burlington was extraordinary. 3

21. Burlington Athletic Booster Club Scholarships: The Booster Club will award $500 scholarships to eligible Burlington High School athletes.

Burlington Athletic Booster Club Scholarship In Memory of Joseph Normant: An award of $500 to a deserving student-athlete who does not receive a lot of awards, acknowledgement, or publicity; who contributes greatly to his or her team due to immense effort and desire to always give 100%; and who performs at the highest level his or her ability allows. The recipient is chosen by the coaches.

23. The Burlington Baseball/Softball Association Awards: Awards of $500 each to boys or girls who have participated in the Burlington Baseball Softball Association and are pursuing post-secondary education.

*** 24. Burlington Community Scholarship Foundation, Inc. Awards: The Carl Cyr Award – $2,000 awarded to a graduating senior residing in Burlington. The Harold R. Ellis Memorial Scholarships – Two $2,000 awards to graduating Burlington High School students residing in Burlington. Donated by the Harold R. Ellis Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Jack Blais Scholarships – Two $2,000 awards to graduating high school students residing in Burlington who are planning to major in science or engineering. The John C. Rennie Education Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a high school senior residing in Burlington who is planning to pursue a career in education. Ernest DeMartinis Memorial Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a high school student entering the field of media, communications, or TV production. Joan Miles Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a student who has demonstrated a proficiency in art or creative writing and has made an outstanding contribution to high school life and to the community beyond. Stephen Miles Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a graduating high school senior residing in Burlington who will be pursuing a degree in graphic design, photography, illustration or art related field Harold Dulong Memorial Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a student who has demonstrated care and concern for other people and shows a commitment to the Town of Burlington through involvement in community service.

The BCSF Discretionary Award – Three $2,000 and Three $1,000 awards to deserving students who reside in Burlington and intend to go on to higher education. BCSF Special Recognition Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a graduating high school senior residing in Burlington who is interested in the areas of teaching, human services, global education or cultural awareness and wants to make the world a better place. BCSF Exemplary Community Service Award – Two $2,000 awards given to students who reside in Burlington and have demonstrated a commitment to serving the community. BCSF Performing Arts, Music or Theatre Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a graduating high school senior residing in Burlington who will be pursuing a degree in music, performing arts or theatre. The Joan Corrao Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a graduating high school senior residing in Burlington who has been involved in community service and intends to pursue a college education. The Lucy Damiani Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a graduating high school senior residing in Burlington who is pursuing a degree in education, humanities or religious studies. BCSF Computer Science or Robotics Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a graduating high school senior residing in Burlington who will be pursuing a degree in computer science or robotics. BCSF 2-Year College Scholarship – $2,000 awards open to a graduating high school senior residing in Burlington who will be going on to a technical/trade school or a 2-year college. BCSF Environmental Science or Life Science Related Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a graduating high school senior residing in Burlington who will be pursuing a degree in environmental science or a life science related major. BCSF Business or Finance Scholarship – $2,000 awarded to a graduating high school senior residing in Burlington who will be pursuing a degree in business or finance. The Phyllis Van Wart Scholarship – Two $2,000 awards to graduating high school seniors residing in Burlington who will be pursuing a degree in nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy or nutrition.

The Wayne Alan Johnson Scholarships – Two $2,000 awards given to Burlington High School seniors who have demonstrated academic improvement, a concern for his or her fellow students and intends to pursue a career in criminal justice or other academic degree. Donated by the Wayne Alan Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund. *** 25. Burlington Council On Aging Scholarship In Memory Of Jeanne A. Garrett: An award of $500 to a student who will major in nursing or is pursuing a medical career. This award is given in honor and memory of Jeanne A. Garrett, the first coordinator of the Council On Aging. *

26. Burlington Disabled American Veterans, William Hurley Chapter 113 Scholarship: An award of $750 will be given to a graduating Burlington High School senior who is a child or grandchild of a disabled veteran and who is pursuing higher education.

27. Burlington Educators Association Scholarship: One award of $1,000 to a deserving student who will attend a four-year college or university interested in pursuing a helping career.

*** 28. Burlington Eye Associates: An award of $400 to a deserving student attending a four year college or university interested in a health care career. *** 29. Burlington Family Dental Award: The Dr. Johnn Aloia, Dr. Orla Baker, Dr. Garry Feldman, and Dr. Sherry Chan Scholarship: An award of $400 to an outstanding scholar who is furthering his/her education in a health profession. *

30. The Burlington Garden Club Memorial Scholarship: The Garden Club will award one $500 scholarship to a student who intends to pursue the study of the arts and/or sciences related to horticulture, environmental sciences, wildlife biology, engineering science, conservation, or other related field.

*** 31. Burlington General Scholarships: As a result of the contributions to the general scholarship fund, scholarships in the amount of $350 each will be awarded to members of the Class of 2017. The donors to the general scholarship fund can be found on the last page of this program. *

32. Burlington High School Basketball Scholarship: This $450 scholarship will be given to a graduating senior who participated in the Burlington High School basketball program. This individual is distinguished as a studentathlete at BHS and is pursuing a college education.

33. Burlington High School Class of 1956 Scholarships: Five awards of $3,200 each, donated by the Blais Foundation in honor of the Class of 1956.

*** 34. Burlington High School Class of 2017 Awards: Two Awards of $500 presented to seniors who has demonstrated service, leadership, and dedication to the Class of 2017. *

35. The BHS Music Boosters Association Academic Scholarships: Two $500 scholarships will go to a band and chorus member who have shown great achievement and four year commitment to chorus or band, and who have gone above and beyond what is expected of them, showing positive leadership qualities.

36. Burlington High School Music Boosters Awards: Burlington High School music boosters will award a total of $6,775 to graduating seniors based on number of years of service to the BHS marching band. To be eligible students must be in the marching band during their senior year and have plans for higher education.

37. Burlington Historical Society Inc. Scholarship: One award of $500 to a student who is furthering his/her education and who also has an appreciation of and a special interest in the history of Burlington.

38. Burlington Hockey and Skating Association Scholarships: Four awards of $500 each to students who have participated in the hockey or figure skating portion of the Hockey and Skating Association’s program. An additional $500 award will be given in memory of Joseph Reardon, which is being funded through a memorial fund to Joseph Reardon, a former BHSA player, who passed away in December.

*** 39. Burlington Ice Palace Scholarships: One $1,000 and two $500 awards to Burlington High School seniors who have participated in an ice skating program and who are furthering their education. *

40. Burlington Knights of Columbus Scholarships: George McQuinn Foundation: $1,000 awards to students furthering their education. Burlington Knights of Columbus Scholarships, Council #4978: One $500 award to a student furthering their education.

*** 41. Burlington Lions Club, Inc. Scholarships: Four awards of $500 each given to students planning further education at an institution of higher learning. *** 42. Burlington Ob-Gyn Associates, Inc. Award In Honor Of Francis A. Lombardo, MD: A $500 scholarship to a deserving student who has demonstrated high academic achievement, involvement in extracurricular activities and who plans further study in medicine or nursing. 7

Burlington Pop Warner Football & Cheering Association Scholarships: An award of $750 and two awards at $500 given from the General Scholarship Fund to students who participated in the Pop Warner football program or cheerleading program. An additional $500 award and $750 award will be given in honor of Dan Shannon, longtime member of Burlington Pop Warner.

46. Burlington Professional Firefighter's Local 2313 I.A.F.F. Scholarships: Two awards of $1,000 to graduating seniors pursuing further education.

47. The Rotary Club of Burlington Scholarships: Scholarships totaling $8,000 will be awarded to eligible students who are seniors in high school and residents of Burlington. The students must be enrolled in an institution of higher learning accredited by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education or by an equivalent agency in another state.

*** 48. Burlington School Administrators Association Scholarship: One award of $500 to a deserving student. *** 49. Burlington Science Center Scholarship: A Scholarship award of $600 will be awarded to a deserving BHS graduating Senior who has worked as a Science Center Aide for a minimum of two years. The candidate will be awarded the scholarship based on their commitment to the Science Center's mission of making Science Come-Alive in the Burlington Community. *** 50. Burlington Son's of Italy Lodge #2223 Award: One award of $1,000 to a deserving student pursuing further education. *** 51. Burlington Student Council Scholarships: Two awards of $500 to students who have served, with distinction, as members of the Burlington High School Student Council and Government. *** 52. The BHS Yearbook Scholarship: One award of $400 to a deserving student pursuing further education and a participant in the Yearbook Club. **

53. Burlington Youth Basketball Scholarship: Four awards of $1,000 to students who have participated in, or volunteered for BYBA sponsored basketball programs/teams. Strong consideration is given to those players who display positive attitude, exceptional teamwork and above average effort on the basketball court and in the classroom. 8

54. Burlington Youth Lacrosse Association Scholarship: One $500 award to a participant in the Burlington Youth Lacrosse Program as a player or coach and who will be pursuing further education.

Burlington Youth Soccer Association Scholarships: Three awards of $500 to graduating seniors attending a college, university, junior college or technical school, who have been active participants in the Burlington Youth Soccer Association. Special consideration is given to those students who have volunteered time to the BYSA. In addition 3 awards in the amount of $750 are given in memory of Ron Brush, Trevor Saxon and Jim Brine.

56. The Rocco Candelino, Jr. Memorial Scholarships: Three awards of $400 given in memory of Rocco Candelino, Jr. , BHS Class of 1979, to deserving students who have shown the courage to never give up and have excelled academically through continuous effort, and plans to further his/her education.

Scholarship: An award of $500 to a deserving student who has demonstrated scholastic achievement in business related courses and who will attend a four year college or university to major in accounting. *** 58. Eric F. Carlberg Memorial Scholarship: A $1,200 award to a deserving student who is furthering his/her education at a four-year college or university. *** 59. Century Bank Scholarship: One award of $1,500 to a deserving student planning to attend a four year college or university and who is planning to major in accounting or finance. *** 60. Choate Hospital Aid Association Scholarship: One award of $1,000 to a deserving student who will further his or her education in a health profession. *

61. The CJK Randall Scholarship: Three awards of $700 given by the Randall family to a student who has demonstrated personal initiative and consistent academic growth. The student may attend either a two or four year collegiate program.

Comey Memorial Scholarship: One award of $1,000 to a student, planning to attend a four year college or university, who has exhibited a strong work ethic, demonstrated high academic achievement, and contributed to the Burlington High School community through sports or other extra-curricular activities. *** 63. Julia M. Connors Memorial Scholarship: One award of $500 to a student pursuing a registered nursing degree program at a college or university. Julia was the first School Nurse, Truant Officer, and Police Matron.

65. The Michael W. Crocker and Curtis M. Crocker Memorial Scholarships: In memory of Michael Crocker and Curtis Crocker. These $500 awards go to student athletes who exemplify attributes of Michael and Curtis such as dedication, positive attitude on and off the field as well as love of family.

66. The Brendan Curtin Memorial Scholarship: $2,000 awarded to a graduating high school senior residing in Burlington who has shown a commitment to the Town of Burlington through community service. Donated by the Brendan Curtin Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The Digital Credit Union Scholarships: Six awards of $1,000 and four awards of $500 to graduating Burlington High School seniors attending a two or four year College or University. *

70. The Thomas & Ann Eagan & Debbie Dew Memorial Scholarships: Two awards of $500 to deserving students who will attend a four year college or university.

Dubois Memorial Scholarship: One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student that most exemplified Cindy’s academic qualities, love and care for others, and the courage to never give up. *** 72. Erland Construction, Inc. Award, In Memory of Maryanne Callahan: An award of $500 to a deserving student who has displayed community involvement and has given back to the community. *** 73. Dr. Paul David Epstein, D.M.D. Award: An award of $400 to a student who has demonstrated academic achievement, financial need and is pursuing an education in dental or medical science. **

74. The Dan Fahey Memorial Scholarships: $500 awards in memory of Dan Fahey given to students furthering their education at a two or four-year college or university.

76. John J. and Helen I. Ferren Memorial Scholarships: Awards of $500 each to graduating seniors who have best served as examples for their classmates in the areas of service and leadership.

77. FISH (Friends In Service to Humanity) Scholarship: An award of $500 to a graduating senior who plans to continue his/her education in the field of human services.

*** 78. Karen FitzGerald Smith Memorial Scholarship: An award of $1,000 given to a deserving student pursuing a medical career. This award is given in loving memory of Karen FitzGerald Smith. *

79. Kevin J. Fitzgerald Scholarships: Two $2,500 scholarships awarded by the Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation, to graduating seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, civic and school involvement. One scholarship is awarded to a student attending a four-year college, and one scholarship is awarded to a student attending a vocational school or community college.

Fox Hill Elementary School Parent/Teacher Organization Scholarships: One award of $400 to a deserving student who attended Fox Hill School and who is continuing on in a formal educational program. *** 82. Francis Wyman School Parent/Teacher Organization Scholarships: Two awards of $500 to students who completed their elementary education at Francis Wyman School and are furthering their education at a two or four year school. *** 83. Robert B. Ganley Memorial Scholarship (BHS Class of 1967): An award of $500 to a boy or girl who exhibits the qualities that Bob exhibited in his everyday life: honesty, integrity and a concern for all people. *** 84. The Donna Gelormini Memorial Scholarship: Two $500 awards, given in memory of Donna Gelormini (BHS Class of 1980), is presented to students continuing his/her education who have demonstrated a positive attitude throughout high school. *** 85. The Mary Gibson Memorial Scholarships: One award of $2,000 to a student of academic excellence planning further education and who will perpetuate Mary Gibson's ideals of dedication to and concern for others. **

86. The Ryan Gilligan Memorial Scholarship: Two awards of $500 to deserving seniors that plan to attend a two or four year college.

*** 87. The Giovanniello Family Scholarship: Two awards of $2,000 presented to deserving students pursuing further studies in science, engineering, business administration or education. *** 88. The Simone Goldstein Scholarship: Two awards of $500 to outstanding students who have demonstrated interest in and concern for others and intend to pursue a career in Education. **

89. Vickie Graham Memorial Scholarship: An award of $500 presented in memory of Vickie, a 2001 graduate of Burlington High School, to a deserving student attending a four-year college majoring in Art or Computer Graphics.

90. Janiene F. Gresla, D.D. S. Scholarship: Two awards of $400 to aid local students who have contributed to the community and obtained scholastic achievements.

*** 91. Grinnell Mechanical Scholarship: An award of $500 to a deserving student continuing his/her education. *** 92. The Gutierrez Company Scholarship: An award of $1,000 to a deserving student who has demonstrated civic and school involvement and is pursuing further education. *** 93. The L. Catherine Hogan Memorial Scholarship: L. Catherine Hogan was a secretary at the Meadowbrook and Memorial Elementary schools for 30 + years. These $500 scholarship awards go to a Burlington High School senior attending a four year college or university. *** 94. Paul Howard Memorial Scholarship: One award of $400 given by the Class of 2019 and 2020, to a person of proven academic ability and good character, in the model of Mr. Paul Howard, who has served the school or community in a demonstrable fashion. **

95. Indian American of Burlington Volunteer Service Award: One $500 award to a graduating senior who has demonstrated completion of 100 or more hours of volunteer service within the Burlington community, has a GPA of B or above, and is planning to attend a full-time at a two or four year college, university, or vocational technical school.

*** 96. Indian American of Burlington STEM Award: A $500 award to a graduating senior who is planning to major in one of the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields, has a GPA of B or above, and is planning to to attend a four year college or university.

*** 97. The Insight Optical Community Service Award: This award is donated by Dr. Feifke, owner of Insight Optical in Burlington. An award of $400 to a student who has demonstrated leadership in community service, who has been involved with one community service program for two or more years, and who will be attending a two or four year school. *** 98. The Intergen Scholarship: An award of $500 to a deserving student who has demonstrated civic and school involvement and is pursuing further education. *** 99. The Jostens Scholarship: Two awards of $400 to deserving students attending a two or four year college or university. *

100. The Christopher M. Joyce Memorial Scholarship: An award of $1,500 given in memory of Christopher Joyce to a student-athlete with a background in art or photography.

*** 101. The Dorothy J. Kilmartin Memorial Award: Two awards of $500 to students continuing their education. This award is given in memory of Dorothy Kilmartin who was a Special Needs Teacher in the Burlington School System. *

102. Dr. James Kostas: Complete Dental Care Award: An award of $400 to a deserving student who plans to attend a four year college or university.

*** 103. Lahey Clinic Health Care Scholarships: One award of $2,500 to aid students entering a health care related field. ** 104. The Colleen Larson Memorial Scholarship: Two awards of $1,000 each given in honor and memory of Colleen Larson, Class of 2004, to graduating seniors pursuing further education. ** 105. Legends of Burlington High School Hockey Scholarships: Three $1,000 awards presented to members of the Burlington High School hockey program who have displayed exemplary leadership, dedication, loyalty, and sportsmanship. Ed Cahoon Memorial Scholarship: One $1,000 award given in memory of legendary Burlington High School hockey coach Ed Cahoon. BHS Alumni Scholarship: Three $1,000 award given in honor of those alumni hockey players who continue to give back by participating in the annual Alumni hockey game. *** 106. *** 107. The Kristin M. Lucia Memorial Scholarship: An award of $750 provided in memory of Kristin M. Lucia (Class of 2006) to a student who has cheered for Burlington Pop Warner and will be attending a two or four year college. *** 108. R. J. MacDonald Memorial Scholarship: An award of $500 in memory of R. J. MacDonald to a student pursuing further education. *

109. Paul J. Mackey Memorial Scholarship: Two $500 awards to students who attend Burlington High School and have been accepted to a four year college or university and plan to pursue a degree in business.

Marshall Simonds Parent/Teacher Organization Scholarships: Two awards of $500 each to students (one boy, one girl) who attended Marshall Simonds Middle School and have demonstrated the positive traits of citizenship and scholarship which have contributed to the welfare of the Burlington High School community and who plan to continue on with higher education. *** 111. James A. Martin Company, Inc. Scholarship: An award of $500 to a deserving student who plans to further his/her education in the field of landscaping, environmental science, business administration/management or a related field. *

112. The Stephen McGowan Memorial Scholarship: One award of $1,000 given in memory of Stephen McGowan, Class of 1984. This award is given to a varsity student-athlete pursuing a post secondary education.

This award is given in memory of Trish Peach who was a school nurse at Burlington High School. *** 125. The Marsha Rubino Family Scholarship: One $500 award to any hard working senior who attended Pine Glen School. *** 134. Rubino and Liang, LLC Scholarships: One $1,000 Scholarship * and One $500 Scholarship*** to deserving students showing hard work in his or her four years at BHS, in class and through extra-curricular activities and moving on to higher education. Sam Liang is the CEO of Rubino and Liang LLC and host of Just Don’t Lose the Money Radio heard on WBZ and WRKO. He’s a 1984 graduate of BHS. Sam lives in nearby Bedford and is still involved in various ways with the town of Burlington. *** 135. Shea Memorial Scholarship: A $1,000 award to a student who excels as a scholar/athlete and has a desire to continue on with a college education. *** 139. The Patricia M. Shea Memorial Scholarship: An award of $1,000 to a student who would like to make a difference in the lives of others by pursuing further education at an institution of higher learning.

The Edward Young Memorial Scholarship: One award of $500 given in memory of Mr. Edward Young, a science teacher and tennis coach at Burlington High until his passing in 1999. The award is given to a student who has taken science courses at Burlington High and is furthering his or her education.
