Montana Reflections on the Peace Corps “Peace Corps was a time of life where I truly reflected on my own faults and weaknesses. It, for me, was a time where I found myself removed from the comforts I had known back home and from the direct support structures I had relied on for so many years and placed in a group of people, fellow volunteers and locals, who held different worldviews from my own. It was this environment that allowed me to learn some of the most valuable lessons in how to be respectful of others despite our differences.” Jeremy Grant Campbell Mongolia 1999-2001 Bozeman, MT 50715
“The experiences of living in an impoverished country has affected many aspects of my life, and I’m sure this is true for many Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. The two years in Lesotho carry some of my most treasured memories” Piksiyaki “Carla” Stringfellow Lesotho 1995 – 1997 Livingston, MT 59047
“(Because of Peace Corps I) Got the gift of deeper understanding of my own core. Permanently broadened the knothole through which I view and understand the people, events, and ideas in our ever-changing world.” Franklin Lee Arbuckle Colombia 1964 – 1966 Billings, MT 59102 “Peace Corps is never far from my thoughts. Peace Corps has given me a broader context to view the world. It’s given me language to overcome anything and everything: ’this will not be harder than that time.’ I am more grateful for everything I have and everything that I am because of my experience in the Peace Corps.” Donna Elizabeth Sorenson Kenya 2003 – 2005 Great Falls, MT 59405 “After I came back to the US, I decided that I wanted to keep traveling, and take people to other cultures. (Peace Corps) was such a life-changing experience, and I felt that it would be a great way to live the rest of my life.” Susan Eckert Sierra Leone 1969-1972 Bozeman, MT 59715
