2017 Gray New Gloucester Little League Gray New Gloucester Little League Coaches’ Contract It is important that each coach and manager understand and agree to follow the mission of Little League, “promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball and Softball." “Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Little League program assists children in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League Baseball and Softball program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes.” A coach or manager must follow all laws, LL rules and league policies. GNGLL would like to stress the following to coaches and managers: ● Please make every effort to attend the annual coaches meeting, try-outs and league provided training opportunities. ● Understand that learning good sportsmanship, teamwork, the fundamentals of softball/baseball, and having fun need to be stressed, and not winning. ● Teach Respect: Players should learn to respect themselves, coaches, teammates, other teams, umpires and equipment. As a coach, you lead through example, remember if you throw something or confront the umpire your team may think they can do the same. ● Managers and coaches should not e-mail or contact players directly outside of softball/baseball, if you need to address a player, you should do so with their parent or another coach present. ● E-mails should be short and to the point. They should give a brief summary or reminder and what to expect. ● You should only raise your voice to get the attention of the child/children and should not be part of a conversation, as this can have a long lasting impression on the child/children you are addressing or children listening from a distance. ● Managers are responsible for collecting and cleaning equipment during/following the season. ● Managers are responsible for collecting and returning uniforms/equipment by June 30, 2017. ● The home manager/last team practicing is responsible for dragging and raking the field after the game. ● Manager of home team is responsible for pre-game field prep. ● Make sure you clean all the trash from your dugout. If there is another team waiting to use your dugout please remove your equipment first and address your team in another location. Thank you for helping make GNGLL a better team! ___________________________ _____________________ Please sign your name Date signed ___________________________ Print or type your name Adopted October 28, 2014
