Rivendell STUDY CENTER MG and UG Classes Grammar Science
Meets twice a week for 45 minutes. Classes will include hand-on experiments and utilize student notebooks.
Math Lab
Meets once a week for 45 minutes. Cooperative groups work together under the supervision of the tutor to enrich math skills. No curriculum is used and the class is intended to supplement math skills taught at home in an engaging manner. The tutor determines group work based on the skill level of the group.
Bible
Meets once a week for 45 minutes. The class will be tutor directed and focus on biblical concepts and the application of biblical principles.
Robotics
Meets once a week for 90 minutes. This is a new class which will be taught by Jennifer Fuerstinger. This is a beginning course in robotics will be taught by Ms. Fuerstinger utilizing Lego Mindstorm kits, Robolab software and various Lego Robotics materials. It will introduce the student to basic programming and problem solving strategies. Students will work in teams to design, build, program and document their progress.
Pre- Algebra
Meets once a week for 90 minutes. Class time focuses on concept explanation and reinforcement. Periodic evaluations will be administered by parents.
Life Science
Meets once a week for 90 minutes. Class time focuses on lab work and key life science concepts. Periodic evaluations will be administered by parents.
Geometry*
Meets twice a week for 90 minutes. The student will learn to use the tools of geometry and to perform geometric investigations that will lead to geometric discoveries carried out in small cooperative groups in which students jointly plan and find solutions. Homework will average 3 – 5 hours per week. *Cost to be determined.
Biology
Meets once a week for 90 minutes. Class time focuses on lab work and key biology concepts. Periodic evaluations will be administered by parents.
Physics
Meets once a week for 90 minutes, with tutor support outside of classtime as needed. Class time focuses on lab work and key physics concepts. Periodic evaluations will be administered by parents.
Trigonometry
Meets twice a week for 45 min. Pre-requiste of Algebra II. Placement test might be required.
