ROBOJACKETS 3538 We are FRC Team #3538, the RoboJackets out of Avondale High School in Auburn Hills, MI – Sponsored by Plastic Engineering & Technical Services Inc., the FCA Foundation, & NRG Youth Focus LLC. We participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition – an annual competition in which over 3,000 teams worldwide receive a new robot game challenge and are tasked with designing and building a 120 lb. robot to compete head-to-head with other teams. We strive to field highly competitive machines that demonstrate efficiency, reliability, and aesthetics, and to conduct our team as professionals on and off the competition field. We work with professional engineers and utilize a variety of software and fabrication technologies including SolidWorks CAD, ultrasonic welding, water jet cutting, powder coating, and C++ programming. Students are immersed in the full scope of the engineering process – from strategic goal setting into brainstorming rough concepts and prototyping, developing into full 3D CAD design that gets sent to fabrication (both in house and outsourced to sponsors), hands-on work in the shop completing the mechanical assembly and controls integration, software integration that brings our machines to life, and finally debugging, testing, and iteration that starts the cycle all over again. Our shared passion for engineering unites and strengthens our team and every member of our team serves primarily in a technical capacity. As a team we value confidence, ambition, camaraderie, agility, iteration, resilience, fortitude, resourcefulness, efficiency, dedication, and humility. It is our hope that through our team RoboJacket students will experience the attitude, skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to thrive in STEM disciplines, and will go forth as alumni prepared for success in college and career.
