MINUTES OF MEETING HASTINGS PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES August 25, 2016 A regular meeting of the Hastings Library Board of Trustees was held on Thursday August 25, 2016 at the Hastings Museum Library. Members present were: Sherri Andreasen, Brad Beahm, Bobbi Buchholz and Chris Wahlmeier. Also present were Amy Hafer, library director and Betty Grzywa library secretary. Absent - Kim Kern, Dave Hamburger, Sarah Hoops, City Council liaison and Lee Hogan, Adams County Board liaison. It was noted that notice of the meeting was given in advance thereof by publication in the Hastings Tribune and by posting in three public places. Call to Order, Approval of the Agenda  The meeting was called to order by President Brad Beahm at 5:00 p.m.  Citizen Communication – an anonymous patron wrote a letter regarding the behavior of other patrons that he/she found disgusting.  A motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Chris with a second Bobbi.  Discussion:  No final count of the number of participants at the pool party to end summer reading but it seemed crowded.  Earning points for summer reading activities in order to vote for a local charity was well received by children and adults as well. 260 final summer reading sheets were turned in. Give no further discussion the board voted to approve the consent agenda. All in favor: Sherri Andreasen, Brad Beahm, Bobbi Buchholz and Chris Wahlmeier. All opposed: none. Foundation Report –  Brad and Amy met with Shelly Tork to review the funds that will need to come from the Foundation once the tax fund is used. Renovation project is on track and the expectation is that the Foundation will have funds left over after it is all paid for. Friends Report - no representation Liaison Reports – no representation Old Business  Two members of the Foundation Board and Mikel are researching ways to display the donor list. Would like to include a member from the Library Board as well.  The “last piece of the puzzle” will be displayed in the children’s space.  Electrical, plumbing, steel, concrete masonry and construction are occurring simultaneously at the renovation site.  The alley will be repaved by mid October and cleaning the outside of the building will start next week on the east side.  Contractor meeting and site walk thru took place today. Discussed change orders as well. New Business  An amendment to the Clark Enersen contract to select and manage furniture selection is being reviewed. The amendment states “not to exceed $40,000”.





After discussion, a motion to approve the amendment was made by Sherri with a second from Bobbi. All in favor: Sherri Andreasen, Brad Beahm, Bobbi Buchholz and Chris Wahlmeier. All opposed: none. Home delivery service starts September 1.
