Pope Francis has chosen Ireland to host the World Meeting of Families during 2018. The dates and theme of the Meeting will be announced by Pope Francis himself. In 2018, the 9th World Meeting of Families is expected to attract thousands of Catholic families from around the globe to Ireland. It is hoped that this very special initiative will present all of us in the Church with the opportunity, and the challenge, to renew, support and strengthen Irish families and their commitment to the Catholic faith. Hosting a global event of this size requires a huge amount of planning and financial outlay on behalf of the host country. Accordingly, our bishops have now established a National Finance Committee to provide advice on financial planning for the World Meeting of Families in Ireland. To support the hosting of the event, the Bishops intend to hold three national church collections, the first of which will take place next weekend, 28th/29th May. This collection will replace the usual SHARE Collection. The remaining collections will take place in 2017 and 2018. www.worldmeeting2018.ie First Holy Communion Congratulations!
