Parishioner to be Ordained Seamus McEntee On next Tuesday, the 3rd June (the feast day of St Kevin), at 11.00 a.m. in the Pro-Cathedral, Seamus McEntee from Colmanstown, Rathcoole, part of Newcastle parish, will be ordained by Archbishop Martin as a priest for the diocese of Dublin. As well as being a memorable occasion for his family and our parishes, it will be an occasion equally as memorable for the diocese, since Seamus's is the only ordination for Dublin this year. Born in 1965 to Mary and the late James McEntee, he grew up with two brothers and two sisters on the family farm in Colmanstown. After five years with the Missionaries of Charity Fathers (an order founded by Mother Teresa of Calcutta) and then ten years as a car salesman, he entered Maynooth to study for the diocesan priesthood. He was ordained deacon in the Pro-Cathedral on 12 November 2013, feast day of St Laurence O'Toole. For the past year he has served as deacon in Clondalkin, and tells us about himself in a piece he wrote for that parish's newsletter in December 2013, which you can read on our parish website (http:// saggartparish.blogspot.com). He will say his first Mass in Clondalkin’s church of the Immaculate Conception (in the centre of the village) on Wednesday 4th, 7.30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend both the ordination on Tuesday and the first Mass on Wednesday. Our bicentenary book carries a feature on Fr Andrew Hart, P.P. of the 'United Parishes of Saggart, Rathcoole and Newcastle', who was responsible for the building of St Finian's. He is buried in our parish church of St Mary's, with a life-sized effigy on the south wall marking his grave. Fr Hart was from Rathcoole. Two hundred years later, another Rathcoole man is becoming a priest for the Dublin diocese. We congratulate Seamus, and wish him many happy years in the service of God and the people he will be sent to. Mass of Thanksgiving Seamus McEntee Rathcoole Sat. 7th June, 6.30pm Seamus McEntee (soon to be Fr. Seamus!) will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving on Saturday 7th June at 6.30pm in Rathcoole Church. After the Mass, there will be a small reception in Rathcoole Community Centre to congratulate Seamus. All welcome. School of The Word Fr. Aidan Kieran. €589 pps. Call Pat 087-2238911 or Phil 086-2437653. (Note: this is open to all, but is not an actual parish pilgrimage.)
