She will forward to the Council to share with the IDP Member Section. ¾ Chairperson ‐ Kelly Decker Kelly, IDP Chair, led the discussions on the following Agenda topics: ¾ Communications: Council Meeting Minutes: Presently the IDP Council Tele‐conference Meeting Minutes, after approval by the Council, are disseminated by the Regional Reps as prescribed by the Roles and Responsibilities of Officers to
their Regional Members. Another purpose of Regional Reps sending out to their respective regions is the creation of an avenue of dialogue/connection between the members and their Regional Reps. Region II, Jeff has initiated a list and has begun communicating with the members in his region. Opinions and comments were made toward streamlining the process by sending these Minutes out through the IDP Member Section Google Group. It was noted, there are more e‐mail addresses listed on the IDP Google Group compared to the official RID, Inc. IDP Members Section list. A poll was taken on the preferences from the Council and Regional Reps. It was decided that the minutes will be sent via both the IDP Google Group and via the regional representatives. Facebook: The chair explained some of the history of the two Facebook web pages to the Council. One is listed as “Idp’ Member Section RID”, created by IDP and another listed as “Interpreters with Deaf Parents” which is the official RID, Inc. sponsored Facebook Page. Timing played a factor in this development and Kelly suggested to the Council and Reps to eliminate “‘Idp’ Members Section Rid” to reduce the confusion. It was agreed to fold the two Facebook pages into one. Postings about this change will be made directly on Facebook and within the IDP Google group. IDP Google Group: Kelly informed the council and regional reps, the IDP Google Group is now opened for postings on information sharing, updates, workshops, dialoguing on current topics, etc. The council and representatives were advised to be clear as an individual posting versus posting as a representative of the IDP. Regional Conferences Region V – Conference will be held on June 25‐28 in San Diego, CA. Kelly will be in contact with Helen Young and John Hendricks to determine their attendance, willingness to coordinate the IDP Members Section Meeting, support a pre‐conference workshop, etc. Region II – Conference will be held on July 3‐6 in Atlanta, GA. Jeffrey Palmer, IDP Regional Rep. informed the council he is in touch with Joshua Pennise, the national Regional Rep. There are discussions regarding the possibility of having a joint NAD‐RID ‘Community Forum’ at this event. He is planning on attending and is willing to manage the IDP Members Section Meeting. He has begun a dialogue with his constituents. In this regard, Jeff requested assistance and guidance in the conversations that will take place during this meeting. The Region II Rep. will keep us informed. Region IV – Conference will be held on July 17th‐20, in Des Moines, IA Larry Barnett, Regional Rep. is uncertain of his ability in attending this event. He also indicated he cannot speak for Pamela, his co‐representative, as they both work for the same entity and as decision will be made as to who will be allowed ‘time off’. Further discussions on this will be forthcoming. Region III – Conference will be held July 24‐27 in Lansing, MI. David Stuckless, Regional Rep is considering hosting the IDP Members Section Meeting and Sue, IDP Vice Chair is willing to assist David in managing events for this conference. Region I – Conference will be held July 31‐August 3 in Wakefield, MA. Naomi Berlove, Region I Rep. is willing to host the IDP Member Section Meeting during this conference. The IDP Chair, Kelly suggested the Regional Reps to be in touch with their Deaf Caucus Regional Reps to possibly combine and collaborate both member section meetings to give more time for discussions, a workshop or other topics. This could also include a social time for those in attendance. It was also suggested the Representatives make contact with the scheduler of the member sections meetings either through the national office or the regional representative in order to avoid conflicting time slots and request for a reasonable meeting time for the IDP Member section meeting.
