"Saint Andrews School for Boys celebrated its 150-year existence throughout 2013. The school encourages service to God and the community, justice, fair play, truth and honesty, friendliness, unselfishness, courtesy, consideration, appreciation, humour, reading, playing, sportmanship and pride in work. The gala dinner event was a celebration of the schools' history as well as these guiding values." Introduction A century-and-a-half ago, on 16 November 1863, Bishop Edward Twells founded the Diocesan Grammar School in response to the need for organized schooling for the boys in Bloemfontein. This school was to grow into St Andrew’s School that has over the years played an integral role in the history of both Bloemfontein and the Free State.

Problem / Opportunity Saint Andrews needed assistance with the planning, logistics and management of their 150 years Gala Dinner on 14 September 2013. Objectives Our goal was to host between 400 and 600 old boys and their companions for the Gala Dinner event in a comfortable, memorable setting. A tent was to be erected on the main cricket field.
Message Saint Andrews School should be celebrated as a historic part of the Bloemfontein story, where a Christian life, intelligence and strength of character are developed through quality education. The 150-year celebration did not only hail the history of the school, but a future where every Saints boy's full potential may be realised. Event Approximately 400 guests attended the evening's celebrations - treated to a plated starter, buffet main course and a magnificent cake for every table. Response The Gala Dinner was an elegant celebration and one of the highlights of the third term of Saint Andrews School for Boys' 150-year celebration.
