July 17, 2013 8:30pm Council Chair, Suzanne Nace, in lieu of a phone conference, a majority of IDP Council agreed to discuss the agenda items via a live document which was mailed to the council on July 17, 2013
Mission of IDP: To promote greater understanding and awareness of the values of the Deaf Community as well as the skills, dedication and sensibilities that interpreters with Deaf parents continue to offer to the interpreting profession.

Treasurer’s Report: Amy is continuing her research on the explanation of deposits, expenditures on the account for IDP members from the national office. As of this date, she had not heard anything from them. Secretary’s Report: The IDP examples of pins were sent to the Council to pick their choice and the pins have been ordered. National Conference Update ¾

Laurie mailed her report to be included in the live doc. meeting. As follows: There are 73 people registered at that time. $1700.00 income thus far (all checks) were sent to RID, Inc. national and copies to Amy the treasurer. The final work for the conference will be in the area of: food and space. There will be a registration/sign in table and Darlene and Amy have offered to assist Laurie during this time. Thank you for this. The question remains if they are able to accept registrations at the door.

Chair’s Report Community Forum 8/10 at 2: 2:00pm6:00pm
There is still a need for facilitators and a request was made to forward to interested individuals. The IDP council took a vote and agreed to send a contribution of $3,000.00 to support the Community Forum. The check will be cut this week. ¾ Interpreting Service Provision: An open forum. Kelly Decker sent an e‐mail for the Council for the agenda to review this event at the national conference As follows: “I've attached here the power point I made for the "Interpreting Service Provision: An open forum". It is based upon the survey I sent to IDP members. The last few slides are the questions we will be asking attendees when they break out into small groups. Deaf Caucus (Juliann Wasisco), Interpreting Service Managers (Nancy Berlove), and myself will give a brief

update from our respective member section hence the power point................Janet Bailey and Christine Multra Kraft will moderate.” ¾ IDP member Section Meeting and Deaf Caucus It was confirmed the Council was informed the member section meeting will be held on August 12 at 5:00pm‐6:30pm. After the announcement of the 2013‐2015 council members, the accounting, etc. the IDP member section will join with Deaf Caucus at 6:30‐8:00 pm CEUs, for ’Taking the Pulse of the Indigenous: a Guided discussion’. ¾ Board of Directors video conference nd The video meeting from 7:00 ‐10:00 pm on July 2 with a Deaf mediator, was cancelled due to technology failure. The face to face meeting will be at the national conference from 08/09/2013 from 9: am ‐12:30pm Suzanne and Laurie will be in attendance on behalf of the IDP member section. ¾ Member Section Handbook: There will be a phone conference centered on the updating the PPM. The topic focuses on the finances section and how it applies to member sections and what we can be sure to include in the handbook. Items i.e.: reimbu8rsements, expenses, donations and ledgers will be discussed. ¾ Position Statements: Dawn Whitcher reached out asking if IDP wanted to make position statements on the two motions that directly impact/includes IDP. This request was further discussed on the Live.doc site by the council members who logged in. Initial discussion was held on the ‘rough draft of ideas’ verbiage: ‘‘Interpreters with Deaf Parents and Deaf Interpreters are an integral part of the diversity and longevity of this organization. Our experiential knowledge of the communities we serve and are a part of.... is a necessary component to the diversity of RID....” Further discussions and decisions will be forthcoming. The conclusion is that IDP supports both: Motion A ‐ to put an interpreter on the BOD as a MAL Motion I ‐ to include an IDP and/or DC on the Diversity Council ¾
Conference ‐ Exhibit Hall
The IDP Member Section has been told we will share a booth with the other Member Sections. Suzanne will order the postal cards from Staples to have them ready for the exhibit hall table, etc. ¾ IDP web site and Facebook Kelly suggested we have an IDP web site inviting members to join us on Facebook.
