Council Chair sent Agenda and Tele‐Conference access information prior to the Council Meeting   

Mission of IDP:  To  promote  greater  understanding  and  awareness  of  the  values  of  the  Deaf  Community  as  well  as  the  skills, dedication and sensibilities that interpreters with Deaf parents continue to offer to the interpreting  profession.    

*********************************************************************  The Council Chair began the IDP Council Meeting at 8:30pm    Council Members in Attendance     Chair ­ Suzanne Nace  Vice Chair ­ Laurie Nash  Treasurer ­ Amy Williamson  Secretary ­ Karen Lefebvre  Region I ­ Kelly Decker  Region II ­ Angie Nielson  Region IV ­ Darlene Ensenat ­ Larry Barnett 

   

 

Treasurer’s Report:    Amy is continuing her research on the explanation of deposits, expenditures on the account for IDP  members from the national office.    Secretary’s Report:    The IDP examples of pins were sent to the Council to pick their choice.  300 pins will be ordered to be  sold at the national conference as a fund raiser.  Laurie indicated she would send the remaining IDP pins  to Suzanne.  National Conference Update      ¾ Pre­Conference ­ Vice­Chair’s Report:    Laurie discussed the progress of the Pre‐Conference Workshop, 8/8/2013, 9:00‐4:00pm,  “Civility’ , led  by Carol Patrie, Sharon Neumann‐Solow and Marty Taylor,   A discussion was held regarding of allowing  the possibility of last minute registrations at the door.  Would those individuals who have not had the  opportunity to read the book ‘Civility’ be able to participate fully.          Chair’s Report:

Community Forum  8/10 at 2: 2:00pm­6:00pm   

  The IDP council took a vote and agreed to send a contribution of $3,000.00 to support the Community Forum.   

 

¾       IDP  member Section Meeting and Deaf Caucus     It was confirmed the Council was informed the member section meeting will be held on August 12 at  5:00pm‐6:30pm.    After the announcement of the 2013‐2015 council members, the IDP member section will join with Deaf Caucus.  A note  to the membership will be sent regarding the IDP presence at the national conference.   A social and desserts will follow.

  ¾ Board of Directors video conference    The national Board President Brenda Walker Purdhom, along with members of the board was in contact via video  nd conference with the IDP Council regarding the letter from 7:00 ‐10:00 pm  on July 2 . with a Deaf mediator.  Kelly, Laurie  and Suzanne will attend this conference on behalf of the IDP Members.  More information to follow.    ¾ Things to do:       

Conference ‐ Exhibit Hall  The IDP Member Section has been told we will share a booth with the other Member Sections.  Postal cards listing IDP  sponsored even/meetings on calendar as well as Motion ‘A”, Our IDP Mission, etc. will placed on this table.    As well as  an opportunity to sell IDP Pins and placing the IDP banner on the table.

A Monkey Survey will be sent by the Council Chair, to determine the next Council Meeting Dates for July.
