15th February 2017
Dear Parents Our annual Bayleys Kaimai Community Golf Day is just about upon us. It is being held on Saturday the 25th of February with a starting time of 10:00am at the end of Penmoral Lane (off Soldiers Road). The course is set out over the Midson family farm. There are twelve holes and the course has been designed by Dave Cooke, a keen golfer and expert course designer.
KAIMAI SCHOOL “Strive & Honour”
This is a great day for you, your family and the community. Golfing experience is not required, nor an array of clubs. All you need is some golf balls (you will probably lose at least one) and two clubs (a wedge and a 4 iron would probably work). We recommend that you wear your gumboots or comfy walking shoes, as formal golfing attire is not required at our course! The focus is on playing in teams of four and having a fun day out. If you can’t rally a team together we can add you to an existing bunch of players. Refreshments are brought to players via a quad bike and there is a water hole that not only provides great views of the Ngamuwahine River but is a great place to grab a burger and a drink before you continue your golfing. As this is a licensed event we can not allow people to bring their own alcoholic beverages. The event will also provide entertainment for the children, along with a bouncy castle, and of course drinks, sausages and burgers are available for them too. The older children may even want to play golf with you!!! If you register to play and pay before the 24th of February the cost per player is a cheap $10. If you register on the day, the cost is $15. To register you can go to the website h#ps://goo.gl/forms/XcQmbSVjJp4tGSCL2 or visit our Kaimai School website or Facebook Page. This event is day two of our Bayleys Kaimai Golf Classic. Day one is on Friday and is our corporate day. This is when teams from businesses in town are bused to our golfing venue and we provide a unique corporate golfing experience. There are auction items that are up for grabs on the Friday afternoon, signed sporting memorabilia, a possum hunt experience, a cubic metre of firewood, a signed Nigella Lawson cookbook, a wooden toy from JM France and even a signed U2 photo are up for grabs. Details on all the auctions are on our school website and Facebook Page, if you would like to place a maximum bid, we can note this down and place it on your behalf on the Friday afternoon. Just contact the school office for more details. This is the third year we have run a corporate golf day and is one of our major fundraises. Last year we made over $12,000 at our golf day, this year we are hoping to better that total. All money raised will go towards our Kaimai Community Skate Park. A reminder that this year we have secured the YMCA’s after school care programme, to run at Kaimai School. This is really exciting and can only work if families take up the opportunity. If you have questions about after school care, you can contact the YMCA office on (07) 579 6530 and Kirsty can answer all your questions, or you can visit h#p:// www.ymcatauranga.org.nz/aCer_school_care Finally, our new PE shirts have arrived, the cost for the shirts are $39 each. These shirts are made by the local company, Stoney Creek, and are a blend of recycled polyester and cotton. They are even infused with coffee beans which provides permanent natural odour protection. It also has a high UV protection factor and will not be like any other school’s shirt. These shirts must be worn to all sporting events, Year 7 and 8 Technology and EOTC class events. The Kaimai Board of Trustees understands that schooling is getting expensive and is trying to keep costs at a minimum. That is why these shirts are priced at cost, the school is not making any money on the shirts, nor is the school receiving any ‘benefits’ from Stoney Creek, other than the 30% discount, which we pass straight on to you.
Regards,
Dane Robertson
