A Message from Mrs. Kotlarz Dear Montclair Families, We have had a great first week in our 2nd Quarter! Students will be bringing home their 1st Quarter Report Cards today. Thank you, parents, for showing your support at conferences. Be sure to celebrate you child(ren)’s success and achievements. On Monday, the Halloween Parade will begin at 2:30. Please see the attached Parade Route. Parents who are setting up for the parties in the classrooms may arrive at 2:00. Please remember there should be no make-up depicting blood and other suggestions of violence and there should be nothing that resembles a weapon such as guns, swords, hatchets, etc. We are looking forward to having a safe and fun afternoon!

NeSA Results Conference Feedback How do we increase parent attendance at Curriculum Night? Start/Stop/Continue Document Strengths Based Parenting - Book Study (Take Strengths assessment, read: Intro, Chapters 1 & 2, and page 87)

Upcoming Events/Reminders - Spaghetti Feed/Glow Dance Upcoming meetings: 11.15.16, 1.17.17, 3.14.17, 5.16.17 Meeting Notes: We reviewed the cohort and trend data for each of the NeSA assessments. There has been a lot of growth over the years with specific groups of students. We will continue to monitor the impact of departmentalizing in the 4th and 5th grades. Conference feedback was good - like the option of two different nights before the break starts. We brainstormed how to increase attendance at the curriculum night that typically falls in late August. One idea was to have specialists provide supervision for kids in the gym while parents are able to attend the scheduled times in classrooms. We discussed the Start/Stop/Continue document and everyone will add their thoughts prior to our meeting in November. We had our first discussion on our book study and love the ideas of how parents can foster the strengths in their children. New reading assignment for November’s meeting.
