Information for State Officer Candidates Members planning to run for State FFA Office (who have / will have received the State FFA Degree) need to have an Application for the State FFA Office postmarked to the Arizona Association FFA by April 15. Completed applications must have the signatures of parents, advisor and if still in school, the signature of a school administrator. Applications are available at www.azffa.org under the “Downloads” tab and in the “State Officer Candidates” folder. Candidates may also send an email to [email protected] and an application will be sent electronically. Please direct any questions to (602) 542-5564. State FFA Officer Candidates are to arrive by 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday (May 30) prior to the start of the State FFA Leadership Conference at the Doubletree – Reid Park for the onsite State Officer nominating process. Please arrive having already eaten lunch. Candidates are responsible for all transportation. In coming weeks, a list of candidates will be mailed to all candidates in the event that candidates want to room together during the preconference agenda. In addition to the normal nominating committee process, we are requiring, again, that all candidates seeking consideration for State FFA Office attend a pre-interview appointment. These appointments are scheduled for pre-interviews which are held in conjunction with the May COLT and will be held at the Four Points Sheraton, 6850 E Williams Field Rd Mesa AZ 85212. If the candidate has a conflict with this date, please contact the Arizona FFA Office to coordinate other possibilities at 602-542-5564. The candidates will give an introductory speech and be interviewed in a variety of rounds. Candidates will be videotaped during the pre-interview process. All newly elected state officers will be expected to stay until approximately 10:00 a.m. on Sunday (June 4) following the conference. Hotel arrangements for Saturday evening (June 3) will be taken care of by the State FFA Executive Secretary. All newly-elected state officers (and their parent(s) / guardian(s), if present) are also expected to report to the Secretary’s station immediately following the close of the 4th General Session. Please note! In an effort to remove the confusion and craziness of booking hotel rooms for state officer candidates, we will manage that for you! State Officer Candidate registration includes the cost of the hotel room.

Dodgeball

Competitive?...check. Like to throw things?...check. Well, we have just the thing for you. This year, we’ll be holding our annual Dodgeball tournament. If you’re interested, make your way to the Gittings Gym on the UofA campus from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on the Friday (June 2) of the State FFA Leadership Conference. We’ll have a referee to explain the rules and monitor the games. Grab your headband and sign up today.

T-shirt day for FFA!

Ya buddy! It’s T-shirt time! To better facilitate our activities on Friday (June 2) (dodgeball, service project, workshops, etc.) and to celebrate the creativity of FFA chapters all around the state, we’re having our annual “FFA T-shirt day.” Beginning with breakfast, through the Second General Session on Friday a.m. (June 2) and until dinner, students are encouraged to wear their favorite FFA T-shirt. For chapters that have made / designed their own shirt, we’ll have a T-shirt contest during the Second General Session. A couple of guidelines for T-shirt day: • All T-shirts need to be FFA related and appropriate • Students wearing T-shirts will also need to be in long pants (absolutely no shorts) • Students will need to change into Official Dress (“OD”) for the Third General Session on Friday Evening (June 2) • Students receiving an award and / or who will be on stage at any point for the 2nd session must be in OD
